Ok so it was bad year for celebrity deaths. Not only did we lose legends, we lost some far too soon.

But lets take a moment to appreciate the cultural icons we didn't lose this year

Betty White still alive

Tony Bennett still singing!

Live long and prosper.....!!

With respect don't just concentrate on celebrity longitude, celebrate your own continued existence as well, and how you're not being here would affect not just immediate family but also friends, relatives, even work colleagues and what's-their-name down at the local kwik-e-mart, as well as all the members here, all of whom would not appreciate your permanent departure. Statistics suggest that it will happen one day, but while you're still around you should make the most of it and enjoy !!

Hmm true, and both are no spring chickens anymore. I know for a fact that Her Maj had her 90th birthday in 2016, no idea how old Keith Richards is but after a lifetime of drug taking it's a fair bet that his body is going the way of the dodo !!

Think I may have picked up the wrong end of the phaser here, in which case my humble apologies.

For what it's worth I too shall be hitting the big 64 in a few months time, think the Beatles may have written a song about me....!!

Captain Jean-Luc Picard himself Patrick Stewart, not sure how old he is but definitely still living !!

Patrick Stewart is 74, & his friend Ian McKellan is 77 :D In fact, TOS still has a few going for it, Takei (79) Nichols (84) & Koenig (80) are all still around too

Comedy is doing well with Jerry Lewis (90) Don Rickles(90) Dick Van Dyke, (91) Mel Brooks (90) & Carl Reiner (94)

AND not only is Kirk Douglas still on deck at 100, so is Olivia de Havilland

Thanks for that re ages, I honestly didn't know. And thanks for the TOS update too, nice to know they're still hanging-in there.

On the subject of space, sadly first man on the moon Neil Armstrong is no longer with us, having died aged around 80. But second man on the moon Buzz Aldrin is still around, along with Michael Collins (who went to the moon but never actually landed) both aged around 80.

Yeah so I understand, according to reports it was a 'simple stumble with little damage done', but at his age even a simple stumble can be lethal. I seem to remember that on one of the later Apollo missions one of the astronauts stumbled on the moon, didn't he ??
