The cast of time-travelling adventure Back to the Future have paid tribute to the thousands of fans who turned up – many of them in costume as skateboarding teen Marty McFly and his inventor friend Dr Emmett Brown – at a convention in London to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the film’s release.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Gotta love those. I was watching them the other day on some channel on cable. It was interesting watching part two and seeing what they got correct and what was bullshit about our year of 2015. One thing they nailed dead on was big flat panel rectangle shapped TVs..

I wasn't paying as much attention as I should have so I don't know if there were anything else that I missed. I do know of a few things that were totally wrong... like the hoverboards, the cookie sized pizzas that heat up in a box in two seconds flat (and magically expand to full size).

It was also not just a tv, but a communications device. A live link-up between two people, or as Marty found out a third party could listen-in without him knowing. I believe in that clip Marty is talking to somebody called Needles, about the race they're gonna have !!

I thought it was funny how someone could "call up on the TV" any time they wanted and just bust into someone else's home.. It's like, "damn, McFly doesn't even have the chance to accept or deny the call?! Ol' boy just shows up and spies on the family until someone notices?!"

Yeah, there's 3 things in that screencap alone. Flat screen TVs, Skype/video conferencing, & picture in picture

Plus, off the top of my head, they predicted a baseball team in Miami. BTTF2 was released in 1989, but in their 2015, the Cubs beat Miami in the World Series. Miami had no team in 1989, but in 1993 they got the Florida Marlins (Although, the little team logo for Miami in the movie was an alligator, not a Marlin. lol

and using a thumbprint as an identifier/payment system is kind of similar to the fingerprint locks & "tap to pay" thing they have with credit cards now.

Yeah, so yes 'they got it wrong', but ooohh so very nearly right. Which begs the question - is art following science, or science following art ?? In other words, would the modern world have had such gadgets, if they had never appeared in the film ?? (No don't try to work that one out, I tried and it gave me a headache) !! :/
