So I got MeTV on my cable provider a few weeks ago. And I finally get to see Batman again. I love this show, since I was a kid. Watching it tonight, and hearing the song got new to thinking about theme songs.

What are your favorites? Not just what you like but what ones get you excited for the show?

Off the top of my head.......

BAT MAN
FRIENDS
THE GODEN GIRLS
NCIS
THE MUNSTERS
THE ADDAMS FAMILY

I thought Airwolf had the most anticipating theme of all time
Also WKRP in Cincinnati for a Sitcom had the best theme.
Space 1999 and Buck Rogers for Sci fi.

and I always looked forward to Chuck Norris signing the theme to Walker Texas Ranger!

True about WKRP. Anytime someone says Cincinnati, I immediately sing that song

 I love those! Ive actually had them as ring tones on my phone before along with Chips and The Six Million Dollar Man (just the music not the voice over). Other favorites are:

Dallas
Beverly Hills 90210
The Facts Of Life
TNG (I liked the instrumental for DS9 and VOY, but the classic Trek themes really get the blood pumping)
Enterprise
Night Rider
Wonder Woman
The Fall Guy
Dr. Who (all incarnations prior to Sylvester McCoy)
One Day At A Time
The Transformers
Voltron (the Lion one, not the car one)
The Incredible Hulk

I know, these are all over the board in terms of style or genre. But if any of these are on, ill stop and listen.

Enterprise(Both original, and up-tempo); the OST's full-length by Russell Watson is terrific, as well

Voyager-I always remember ''Jennifer Lien as Kes'' :D when a certain segment of the great and sweeping Jerry Goldsmith theme comes up, coupled with the various DQ vistas of the main title sequence. Ah, those first special 3 years...

The X-Files-no 'whistled' theme song has ever become quite as iconic as Mulder and Scully's adventures did

TNG, Season3-7-Between this, and the yet-good music Dennis McCarthy created for the second series, the last-punch da-da-da-DUM!! made it back as it was for Jerry G's wonderful ST:TMP theme it was derived from.

TOS Main Title-Nuff said!! by Alexander Courage :D And Shatner's iconic vocal intro

Battlestar Galactica(Original) by Stu Phillips-I have, if worn out, and lacking the appropraite player today-the 8-track cassette, which I used to play all the time(Along with my John Williams Star ars OST on 8-track) and envision the battletar and her 'ragtag fleet'. For some of us, this is the show we think of when we hear BSG, and the rousing theme, just before which Patrick McNee of ''The Avengers' offers the series tag line. ''There are those who believe, that life here, began out there, with tribes of humans....''

I know these are obvious ones, but, with some further thought, I'm sure I can come up with others....

...Maybe the theme for ''Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea"? I only remember the merest notes of it, but I sure loved the Irwin Allen show as a kid-and had my own Seaview, to boot.

The Six Million Dollar Man?-''STEVE AUSTIN....A MAN BARELY ALIVE.....WE CAN REBUILD HIM. WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY. WE CAN MAKE HIM BETTER THAN HE WAS. BETTER...STRONGER...FASTER.................''

Non-genre, I'd have to echo previous posts, ''Dallas'', for one. Mom and I would watch that, and Falcon Crest after, together, every Friday night. Yeah, I had no life! But, it was fun, and who didn't love to hate J.R.?? The theme is one of the most iconic on tv. People around the world would know it.

Yeah, ''Dukes of Hazzard''. ''Just a good ol' boys, never meanin' no harm...'' That was our warmup show on Friday nights. Dad stayed up for at least to see''Them Dukes, them Dukes!!....''

I would also have to certainly say, as well, that Mike Post created the soundtrack of the Seventies, starting withThe Rockford Files. His material wound up on the charts back then, too, definitlely for that one, I remember. Wow, that was an eternity ago. I think I recorded it one time on my lil ol mono cassette recorder.

Some more potentials on my soundtrack of my tv life list:

All in the Family-Sing it with me!....''For the weekend Miller played songs from the hit parade...Guys like us, we had it made....THOSE WERE THE DAYS.......You used to know who you were then, girls were girls, and men were men...Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover a-gaain....'' I'm tempted to finish da whole thing. Yeah, you can do that....

The Carol Burnette Show-It was both an instrumental theme, and Carol's sung closer-to what once was so conventional, and so popular-the tv variety show-'Noone did this better, than Carol, Harvey, Tim, Vickey, and Lyle-''I'm so glad we had this time together, just to have a laugh, or sing a song.....Seems we just get started, and before you know it....comes the time we have to sayyyy.....sooo looooong.....''(Ear tug!) What great childhood memories. I wish I could just go back-and stay a long while....

Not a bad start, I think. Good idea, RE, this thread.

Actually, Dexter's theme song was brilliant. It set the tone for the show perfectly. Another one which did so similarly was Twin Peaks.

*KF is locked by Angry Andy in a cell with Otis. NOT OTIS!!! :o
*Aunt Bea is let in to bash KF over head with a frying pan*
*Opy, to round things off, attacks KF with a fish hook*

:pinch: And, even worse, I'm a fellow Southerner! Doh!

Yeah, watched AGS a lot as a kid, Mojo. Classic tv. How could I have blundered so? Anyway.....

*KF uses his 'dime' to call Fox Mulder for help*
