Thanks, A. Whether my climb up the ladder will continue, is up to my dialup provider-and however long my phone co will let me have my landline. I'll have to be in touch with the former in the next few days. Whether thy'll give me a free ride for an extra month, as they did back just before I left the net, I dunno. I'll be around, as long as I can. If not, KF can say, hey, at least I went out a wench. Yay, Wenchdom!

THANK YOU, Alienesse! That's very sweet of you to say. But, as far as my provider(s), it's all about the money, as with anyone else. Like I said, I got a free ride in the past, but, I'd been with longer then re dialup; they might do so this time, I haven't phoned about the cancellation, which would have to be called in before next Tuesday. It means a lot, to think that there are those who'd miss me. |

Yeah you'd be missed, of course you would. We don't have so many members, we can afford to lose a few, we need all we got. And when they don't post for a while, we miss them. Well I do !! Btw, isn't there a broadband provider in your area ?? It would be better than dialup, and should be a bit cheaper maybe ?? |

Thanks for the sentiments, Spocklet. But, some news: I just called PeoplePC. I asked about when I would need to let them know about cancelling-but, the guy didn't pitch any offer to let me ride for another month free. Maybe if I'd have thrown it out there, I dunno....I realize, sometimes, you can negotiate, but, eh...I mean, I AM tapped out in my wallet. Completely. There are NO funds to pay em. Eh, anyway, running my pc 24/7 is getting to be too costly, besides, for fear the thing may not boot up again later-as I've so often said these past two weeks. It IS a bummer, but, aside from talking up a freebie, no guarantees there, there ya go. In my shoes, noone here would be sweating the INTERNET, not over power and whatnot. I lived a year and a half without it, I can get used to it again. You'd be amazed, at what you can survive without. May not be fun, but you can. I know so well. |

if your local library has computers hooked into the internet, maybe you could go there? if it's like my local library, if you have a library card it's pert of the cost to use them. or if you don't they have a computer only card for a small yearly fee. (i think it was $5.00 or $10.00) there was an hour time limit & of course you had to be careful what you looked at, but it might be worth it to see what you're local library has. |

To Wissa, thank you for expressing that you'd miss me. That means a lot, truly. And the same for anyone else who would feel the same way. Beleive me, in my case, when you make a friend, internet, or not, it's a big deal. Most of the time, pathetic as it sounds, I'm alone. I just spent all evening trying to get two onlione appys done, and just finished one with Toys R Us. Good Lord. They put me through this quasi-psych test, asking me all these situational questions. Quite a few, I felt like Kirk in the prisoner's dock on O'Nos, I'm serious. I just answered, you know, as Jim, did, I'm screwed here likely, anyway, straight out how I would feel, or react, to this or that, knowing I DON'T do pressure well, among other things. I figured, they won't hire me, anway, what's to lose!! I just can't get it through to some people here at home how HARD it is for ME to get hired. ARRRGH. Thanks to all for letting me vent. Soon, you may not have to hear it anymore! AWOL, thanks for the advice. Yes, there is a library about 3 m. from me, but, I got the internet in the first place to be able to contact one temp agency from home. I am not crazy about using a public pc for something like temp/job appys, and frankly, the unemployment office is farther than I care for, and more likely crowded than, well, reasons I will prefer to leave between just mems who now know, in S31. As for casual reasons, yeah, I could always use a library, but, I just like having the privacy of home, and whatnot, for surfing. No reflection on any friends I have made before, or now, do understand, by all means.... So, I am TIRED. Brain, says 'I dun wanna THINK any more tonight!!' Yeah, like you do anyway, Big B. Did I say 'Big'??? Hugs, handshakes, and thanks, all round. You can hang with me on Ocampa any day of the week. Oh, to be there right now.... |

Well if you're still with us, check out the local broadband providers in your local area, cos most - if not all - will have a 'first month free' deal, which gives you a month to sort something out, then if you can't just cancel at the end of the month's trial, and go to another one. That's more common than you would imagine !! Jobs, yeah of course you want a job that's your 'specialty', but don't overlook other jobs. Long time ago I couldn't get the kind of job I wanted, but there was one job available that I could do - washer-up in a local hotel's kitchen. Not particularly glamorous or fulfilling, but it was a regular salary, and a reference at the end of it, which showed potantial employers that I was not afraid to work. So don't give up, just widen your potential job prospects while you keep looking for your preferred job !! |

there was an article i read about how the job interview process at some places is crazy. like 3 weeks of interviews, odd tests & unusual tasks that have nothing to do with your job. like 5 job applicants had to cook dinner for 30 people with a $300 or $400 budget. |

The tasks are just a test, see if you can follow instructions etc. Checking your level of aptitude and ability, to find out early if you are likely to be a liability if they employ you. Most businesses do it these days, it saves them from various legal issues !! |
