I love this show. I loved in when it aired 2001 to 2004 and I'm loving it again on netflix. I'm loving far too many episodes a day actually. But my obsession is down to only a handful of episodes left.

Not only did it have a great cast, it had a stunning array of recognizable guest actors.

Rita Moreno
Lolita Davidovich
Jobeth Williams
Tate Donovan
Corey Feldman (ok not great, but interesting)
Will Ferrell
Maureen McCormick (Marsha Brady)
Cathy Baker
Kerry Washington
Chloë Grace Moretz (kick-ass)
Gina Torres (firefly)

from star trek

Michael Dorn
Chris PIne
Armin Shimmerman

And half the cast of Breaking Bad

Anna Gund
Aaron Paul
Betsy Brandt
and a very young chubby Jesse Plemons (meth damon)

Wow, wissa! Impressive list.

I have thought of you several times recently because of this show. LOL

You mentioned several times about liking The Guardian & that you're watching it on Netflix. And I finally checked it out.

What's his name (the lead) is unimpeachable in his performance isn't he. What a doll to look at. What enjoyment of his acting to watch.

The premise is layered and layered. I do like that kind of thing. The stories complex and well written. The casting would have a hard time being even the least improved. Dabney Coleman is doing this underplayed complex character that fascinates me. His and his son's interactions are the soul of the shows 'for me'. I keep wanting more more more.

I am just having one teeny tiny itty bitty smallest of a problem with the show; the children's stories and plight is just tearing me up. Ripping my heart. I have such a difficult time with children in danger, physical and/or emotional, and every show is exactly that; children in danger... and now I understand the title, The Guardian. Guardian as litum. Children in danger. ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I will have to space this show's episodes to about a couple times a month to be able to sit well with these all too real and real time truths in every-day-world. :afraid:

That's how good this show is.

Glad you found it again and are loving it. Mentally hug those kids for me every now and then.

(oo...oo... The first thing I noticed on the show though was that the first kid, whose father had conflicting meds that caused him to do that awful thing.... I've been watching that kid on Continuum! On Netflix! He's the genius whiz young man! I recognized him immediately even though he's a little kid in The Guardian)
I will remember.

I forgot Farrah Fawcett (hope I spelled that right :rachel: ) in her third to last role.

I'm so happy you are enjoying it TYGR

Some of the children's stories are brutal. And I'm afraid there are not a lot of happy endings. After the first season though the children's stories are not as central as the show becomes more domestic and centers more on the private lives of the different characters. Hunter's arc continues right through the first season. I agree the relationship between Nick and his father is one of the best aspects of the show. And it continues throughout the series. His relationships with other people get quite interesting as well.

I love his interaction with the children. As you learn more of his story it is more apparent that he feels so strongly about these children because he is one of these children. He didn't face the same poverty but the abandonment and emotional neglect he suffered as a child is the exact same thing he sees in these children.

:( I'm done. The ending is fairly satisfying though.

I've watched 66 hours of this show in the last month. I may have some free time coming up.

I 'will' remember.

Yep.

5. The Men From the Boys (Another good one and it had a comfortable ending so I watched the next one)
6. Indian Summer (UN-expected. The 'twist' made it comfortable for me to watch the next one)
7. Feeding Frenzy (Another eye-opener and added admiration for those real life people who take on this crushing task that has so little that feeds their souls enough to be able to come back day after day after day.)

This show is still daunting for me to watch because it remains difficult for me to separate it from current real life plight.

But, man oh man, the actors, especially Simon Baker & Dabney Coleman, keep knocking home runs with their performances!

This is even by far my favorite role I've seen Simon Baker in. His performance is soulful and I never feel I'm watching him act.

I see TV found 'his' look early on with the suits he wears to perfection without affectation and in total ease. The man is physically 'model' perfect. (And it really surprised me that it wasn't he who finally ended up in that charity auction! LOLOLOLOL)
I will remember.

Live long and prosper.....!!

For real binge watching, buy the dvd's of the complete series, and dive in head first. Also the 'extra' stuff on the dvd's can be an attraction all of their own, the Appendices on the LOTR discs for example will keep you happy for hours !!
R.I.P. Gummy, we'll miss you bro
