So I've finally joined the modern age and now have, not just a smartphone, but netlfix as well! so far we have mixed reviews. I could really love it, but it spends a lot of time buffering. Not every time, but sometimes it's so bad you can't even watch it. AND thor isn't on it. I've been on a quest to watch the first thor for ages and am having no luck. Can't find it on dvd, never show up on my pay per view. wtf? |

thy have it on disk, but not streaming. that's what they do with a lot of the popular movies. i don't know if the studios make them do it as part of the deal to have the titles available or what. |

Must be a Canada thing, be we have Thor available for streaming. Netflix requires some good mps... so you may have to upgrade. Check out "Continuum" on Netflix, it takes place in the corporate capital of the North America (partially in the future..it's sci-fi), Vancouver. |

You might like Orange is the New Black too. It's a Netflix original series. It's got Kate Mulgrew in it, & she's way more interesting than on Voyager |

Ali the netflix in Canada has about 4000 titles as opposed to the American netflix that has 10,000 titles. So it is quite different. I rebooted my modem and it seems better. |

That doesnt make sense. The also have different availabilities based on what device you use too. Some things I watch online cannot be played on my xbox. That said, because of Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, YouTube and others, I'll never go back to cable. |

(Warning: The following information is being shared by a person who has little-to-no understanding of such stuff and is merely repeating and giving personal anecdotal information.) So... It was explained to me that part of my own buffering problem would be caused by how much bandwidth my provider... provides me. It was suggested to me that Netflix will probably need around 5Mbp to always be in the clear for download to get everything (HD, buffering, no random pixels, and other things I don't understand) all the time. And gave me this site http://www.speedtest.net/ to see what my provider is ... providing me. (Close anything Internet but the one page that you are testing on to get the reading) So my own bandwidth is just over 3Mbp. Which I guess accounts for some of my own buffering & pixel thingies I sometimes get. But not often. Mostly everything is good. I wonder if 'high activity' on servers makes a difference too? Clogged whatever gets clogged when everyone uses the provider at the same time? Two additional things I've run into and fixed regarding Netflix... maybe before you so can give you tips? The HD shows got sort of smeary the other day and I'm a big caller-and-tell-me-how-to-fix-this Netflix customer. (they are soooooooo nice) The guy said words I didn't understand and I listened for the break in explanation. Then I said, tell me exactly what to do. 1. For smeary HD here: UNPLUG from electric current for two - three minutes. (Not the unplug, count to ten or thirty thing. A full unplug for at least two minutes) It resets a provider/Netflix something or another for HD. Then one day my Netflix Windows 8 app was getting an error message: "You need this or that something or another." <google google google> Lotttttsss of search results with this. Lots of different answers. Called Netflix to tell me how to fix this. (they are soooooooo nice) He knew the error. He and I downloaded latest updates. Still got the error. He had me do this, that, the other. Still got the error. He said that covered everything on the Netflix end so my next move was my computer's IT or Microsoft. Called computer tech support. Which turned into an hours long ordeal of drama & errors with me finally deciding I was going to start recording everything they were saying, tell them I was recording everything they were saying, demanded (for half an hour) to speak to a supervisor, finally got the supervisor, told 'him' I was recording him and if this thing wasn't straightened out to my satisfaction or to a logical dead end, or if he or anyone else was rude to me, or my call was 'accidentally' disconnected again........ I was immediately uploading all the recorded conversation to my Public YouTube Channel and sending a copy of the recording to the parent company. Everything got fixed, the Netflix app works perfectly, I got an apology, I 'surprisingly' didn't experience another accidental disconnect, and I didn't post the recording on YouTube. 2. For a Windows app for Netflix error message; a. Call Netflix first. They will do what they can. (and they are soooooo nice) b. It may turn out to be a bios problem or something like that that I don't understand, and you may have to work with an online tech. b-1. If you have to work with an on-line tech who seems ill-informed or too little trained or rude... nicely and relentlessly insist on getting a supervisor. (btw- those poor tech people are more frustrated with us than we are with them because they have angry customers all day long, day after day, week after week. They aren't the real bad guys and are in a real bad position. However... nicely and relentlessly... don't let them get away with it) |

Dunno if it's good or bad, but tried your link and got 15.69 download speed, with an 0.86 upload speed. But like I said, dunno if that's good or bad, but so far I've got no complaints (but then I don't use Netflix, or those others you list) !! |

it probably has to do with the studios that control the distribution rights. |

New Netflix thing that just happened to me... and the fix that worked this time. Used Netflix app only to get an error message: "Words I don't understand, words I don't understand, words I don't understand" hmmmm..... Going with the first I.T. rule I turned the computer off then back on. (restart) Same error message: "Words words words" So what can I turn off and back on now? The provider router. Same error message. Wait. There's that thing about unplugging it from power source for two or more minutes. When it was back on I clicked the Nf app... voila. New multi-use tool for my tool box: Unplug router for two or more mins |

I have been watching TAS on netflix, trying it for the trial. It's always buffering. I got so frustrated last night, I watched an episode on star trek.com instead. But when it plays, it's great. I use my kindle. |
