So, I have an idea. Why not post some of your favorite documentaries here. Not short clips, but actual shows that you can find on youtube, and eslwhere that allows for sharing of this type.

Here's my first submission.

Gasland (2010)

There's a 2nd film now playing on HBO, which I haven't seen yet. This is their website

The subject, natural gas hydraulic fracturing, is also the subject of a 2012 major motion picture starring Matt Damon & Kohn Krasinski, entitled Promised Land, which I also haven't seen yet, but plan to

Live long and prosper.....!!

I like documentaries and factual stuff. Right now am currently working my way through Carl Sagan's excellent Cosmos series, which I saw about 20 years or so ago on tv. It's not all about space, in fact much of it relates to life on Earth, but definitely worth a look !!

Rich Hall's Inventing the Indian

The UK-based American comedian Rich Hall has made a series of BBC documentaries about US history, particularly how it's been mythologised by Hollywood. They're all worth watching, but this one about Indians is the best. Funny and informative:

Live long and prosper.....!!

Alien Planet.

An interesting documentary about a simulated robotic mission to another world - "Darwin 4" - and the life forms found there. Insights and explanations are provided by a number of renowned scientists, on subjects from planning the mission and locating the planet, how life could have evolved there, to the future evolution of life on Earth. Fascinating !!

Live long and prosper.....!!

The Last Days On Earth.

Documentary exploring 7 ways that life, and the Earth itself, could be destroyed. Not just looking at what might happen, but also at what will happen - the only question is when !!

Only seen the first link so far, but it's appalling the way they are destroying the countryside - as well as life; people and animals etc - with Halliburton at the heart of it all. When you can set fire to water, there's something seriously wrong. But it's all in the name of the great god money, and if that's at the expense of life being destroyed, then so be it !!

Truly I shake my head in shame, at what some people are doing to this poor planet !!

:wissa: It's never that clean cut. I'm not going to get into a political debate, but they're only doing it because we're buying it.

Not the best quality, or even a real documentary, but an open air class on some sword fighting.

Does this count? Seconds from disaster and air crash investigator are my favorite current shows. I am not the guy you want to be sitting next to on the plane unless you want to hear about the mortality rate of the specific craft you were flying on.

Not a criticism, just a suggestion. Trying to watch that small screen is a real pain, so just post the link instead, then we can make the screen as big or small as we like !!

If you click on the "YouTube" icon, a new tab or window (depending on your settings) will open on YouTube and you can watch it however you want.

I personally do not like links because I like to see something before I click on it.

Joe Rogan questions everything. Not quite a documentary show, but cool and educational. Rogan is kind of a street-smart intellectual. The is fun but not ridiculous.

Not really a documentary, just a series of short clips about various reconstructed early medieval instruments of northern Europe:

Here's a series on YouTube by Reason TV about the situation in Detroit and spontaneous acts of anarchy.

Not exactly cinema, but valuable nonetheless.

Dan Carlin's Hardcore History

About an hour and a half long podcast about history in a narrative - story telling format. Very interesting and enjoyable.
