Actually, the safety is not always 100%. If they have an accident, drink something they shouldn't have or get bit by something poisonous, there's not much an aid crew can do but evac them out of there asap

If you are interested in the info aspect, then I recommend Les Stroud's "Survivorman", Cody Lundin's "Dual Survivor" & Mykel Hawke's "Man, Woman, Wild". They are all on Netflix, & fairly informative in nature, and entertaining, though not the standard "Reality" shtick

Naked & Afraid is not very informative. Some of the participants are knowledgeable & you can see cool things if you look closely, but very little of it is covered in the televised hour. It's dropped in lieu of the more dramatic crap, not the least of which is the "Naked" factor. I don't care about any of that. I watch for the survival aspect, & the show does have that in it. So I watch. I'll eat up anything that puts people in survival mode

Last week's episode in the Amazon featured a guy, E.J. Snyder, who dropped in, last minute to fill a spot for a dropout. He was on last season in Africa. He's quite good. Last week he had to build a raft from wilderness materials, & it is literally the best piece of primitive engineering I've ever seen a tv survivalist produce. I don't think anything short of a hurricane could've swamped that thing

I 'will' remember.

I appreciate your information.

You and I will have different ways of looking at this show for I gain personal knowledge from their screw-ups as well as their insight.

Besides, it is the settings and efforts that stimulate my own "What if.... "s. I do not care about any of the contestants... Each viewer's mileage is going to vary. Me? I'm drawn to the situation presented, with two people w varied personalities/skills/etc I absolutely will encounter in any real Event.... and my own assessing of "Okay, now what would I do? That? Something different? Hey, really? I could/should think of that? I must remember to think of that."

I do recognize this (or possibly any) show doesn't immunize the contestants from harm. Rather it is enough for me to know there is oversight for their really real safety in the end. It is a personality comfort that perhaps I don't explain well but I will continue with.

Am reading your posts with great interest!
I will remember.

I don't have a problem with different methods or styles. I don't even have a problem with people failing, because in all honesty, living in the wild, especially the harsh environments, is just a countdown to failure for everyone, some sooner than others. I do get a bit annoyed when people go in with the absolute wrong mindset though, like not wanting to affect nature, or hunt or any of that namby-pamby nonsense, or the other extreme morons who think they are the exception & actually think they are going to conquer nature forcefully, because... Newsflash!

Ultimately, I'm pulling for people to prove themselves & succeed in the challenge, work out a prosperous team dynamic, adapt & overcome

Just watched season 3 this week on their youtube channel. Of the ten episodes, four episodes had someone drop out or get carried out. One of those episodes had both people leave. So of 20 challengers, 5 didn't make it.
