I can' t believe he just stood there and watched her die :(
Not like he just chose to not involve himself , and left, leaving her to die. No. He waited and watched to see her die.

This marks the beginning of the worm truly turning for Walt. His descent is incremental, but unavoidably pronounced. Prior to this, any death he's been involved in has been of a self defensive nature, and this death is not ant act BY him, per say, but without a doubt, a choice by him to see someone be dead, for his own interests. It is the next step down.

This was the point that I & most viewers had to face the fact that though Walt is the lead, & the "every man" who had been likable and respectable enough in the beginning, we begin to discover, as he discovers it himself, that his morality is dubious & he might in fact be ok with that
I see it as his cancer tipping him over into some uber kill or be killed rationale. We hear all the time people saying that they would kill to defend their families. The danger facing his family is his death and the economic toll that would take. In his mind he is protecting his family and that justifies any means it takes.

That's the original rationale, yes

I think it still is the rationale. It's just become a way of life now.

though I find it amusing that he is just as inept as the drug dealing as he's been in every other aspect of his life.

How long till his wife starts banging her boss again?

speeding through season 3.

I was enjoying not having Skylar around for a few episodes. She has really gotten on my nerves. Still love Hank. Jessie just continues to grow as a character. I am liking the way Walt is protecting him. Though, I have my doubts that he is really protecting him or himself. But at the moment the people they work for seem like more of a threat than the police so I'm thinking he is protecting him.

Skylar meeting Sol was pretty funny.

Oh Skylar & Sol... You're so gonna love where that goes. She & her sister were relentlessly annoying, which had to have been on purpose, because by season 4 & 5, they swing round to her being more interesting & identifiable

E v e r y t h i n g Walt does if for Walt, despite whether he tells himself differently. That Jesse/ Walt dynamic is some of the best drama on tv ever. Someone called it Shakespearian

I was so afraid that Walt was going to tell him what really happened the night she died. That would have destroyed him.

I didn't want to tell you until you had seen that tension, because you do get really worried that Jesse will find out, but as of the latest episodes, he never does

No.

And as you go on it becomes more obvious & poignant that he still calls him Mr. White

In fact, the only time he ever calls him by his first name is in season 2 "Breakage" when they're putting everything back together again after Tuco, & Jesse is talking about needing his own crew, & needing to do things his way

Jesse: You need me more than I need you... Walt

It was a short lived moment of empowerment for him

It really messes with his head. Did you see the look on his face? It is the most terrible thing he's ever done, & he knows it. He knows now that he is a despicable human being, & over time he will come to not like that. This is Rock Bottom for Jesse

quick thinking by walt though.

In my opinion, the most interesting thing about Walt isn't his morality or his motivations. It isn't his intentions or his emotions. It isn't his actions or his relationships

The most interesting about Walter White is his intelligence & the sheer chaos of how it is intertwined with his utter stupidity. Walt is a genius. He was the founder of that billion dollar company from season 1. His mind is packed with knowledge, but contrarily, he has done some of the most stupid things an intelligent person can do, mostly because of emotion or hubris

One of my favorite characters is Gus' old tough guy henchman, Mike. They develop Mike more as you'll go on. Probably my 3rd favorite character after Walt & Jesse. Mike sees right through Walt. He knows Walt is reckless, dangerous & prone to stupid decisions, what Mike doesn't realize is just how brilliant Walt can be though, when the chips are down.

That's the key. Walt is insanely stupid, until he is boxed into a corner, & his ass is on the line. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, he perpetrates the most brilliantly ruthless acts of anyone on the whole show. As brilliant & ruthless as his thinking was at the end of season 3, It's ten times more so at the end of season 4, and at that point, there's no doubt about it

Remember those two punks he ran down with his car? The bomb he blew up in Tuco's place? Poisoning the guy who held him at gun point in the RV? Brilliant. Absolute simplistic brilliance

The poison disguised as drugs is pretty smart too, even though it never seems to actually work

so moving well into season 4 now. I like how Gus is redeeming Jessie since Walt has made it clear he won't work without him. Fun to see how fundamentally lazy Walt is as well. Though I guess he just had part of a lung removed. That has to still be affecting him physically. Even Jessie has been surprised at Walt's insistence that Gus not kill him.

Jessie's fall back into drugs was scary fast. His total lack of regard for his own safety was shocking. Still he made it to work every day and stopped to help that girl he'd been sleeping with.

I also like how they are portraying Hank's recovery. I can't think of another tv show where they have portrayed someone getting shot and then not walking back into work in a week perfectly fine.

He's only mobile just now & trudging along with a cane. Part of what gets him motivated is getting hot on the trail of Heisenberg again. They did an excellent job with that story. It may not have been one of my favorite arcs in the show, but still quite well done. Does a lot to diminish Hank's earlier crassness. He becomes a fully realized person, & not just an alpha male archetype, which even within the show is a guise

I started really liking Hank's development, right around the time he threw Tuco's grill into the river. I thought, "Yeah, he's gonna start being interesting now"

Have you gotten to the "I'm the one who knocks" scene yet? I can't remember what episode it was
