I picked up the first season at walmart yesterday. We watched the first episode and I have to say I was underwhelmed. It was kinda boring really. |

It don't stay that way. The show is the downward spiral of Walter White, & all the lives of everyone he knows which get ruined, or ended... or both, along the way. Not sure if it's S1 or 2 but he literally blows up a building. One of those guys from the pilot isn't dead, & how they get rid of the bodies is well... awful |

I never watched a single episode either - was told it was a great show. From what I understand its basically about destruction of of a man and how a good man can fall when all just goes wrong and the effect to those around him that he inadvertently takes with him as downward spirals and just accepts, adapts and rationalizes everything he does. Ill never understand the human fascination for that sort of drama |
| The unambiguous and defined essence of a truest friend, is a single soul, shared in two bodies. A person who completes you so, that it pains you when they hurt, and sustains you when they are with you, no matter how far. | |

That is not really the best description. I'm not going to say it's completely wrong, but it's more than that, & he isn't just a victim of things simply going wrong. He's made deliberate decisions to lead himself into a really dark place, Hence the title "Breaking Bad". He chooses to steer toward immorality & corruption, unlike something like "Falling Down", where Michael Douglas' character is a little more of a gray area, & his line about suddenly becoming the "Bad Guy" is genuinely surprising to him Breaking Bad is a cautionary tale & a character study in egotism. The main character's thing is that he is a self centered man who though at one time was "Good" as in he had a job as a teacher, & took care of his family, & behaved by society's standards, etc... From the very first episode he is an unhappy, unfulfilled, jealous, & somewhat bitter man. Life has not gone the way he feels it should have, & when he is given a cancer diagnosis with a life expectancy of not much more than a year or two, he consciously chooses to own his life like never before, & over time succumbing to the realization that he's willing to do it by any means necessary, even after going into remission. As he goes on... he KNOWS he's becoming the bad guy On the flip side, & just as interesting, is the 2nd lead, (Both of whom have won Emmy awards) a younger man who was a student in the Chemistry teacher's class, who begins as a completely unscrupulous, lowlife drug dealer, & worthless criminal flunky, whose own parents have to disown & shun him. This character sneaks in & begins a subtler journey that is almost the exact opposite of the main lead, a true foil. As he collaborates with the lead to undertake their life of crime, & things become darker & more ruthless, we begin to see that he is in fact Breaking Good, or realizing his own virtuosity They are two of the most outstanding transformations in TV history. THAT'S why it's good. It shows how sudden jarring "Wake Up Call" moments in a person's life can bring out their truest nature & lead to terrifying transformations. The final episodes will be airing near the end of summer, & I'd be seriously disappointed if those two don't cancel each other out in some way You also throw in the 3rd lead being the main guy's brother-in-Law & a DEA agent who rises up the ranks by unwittingly following in the wake of the lead guy's criminality, & you have even another engaging plot twist, whose outcome I can't even begin to fathom |

we enjoyed the last couple episodes of season 1 enough to pick up season two. The first two episodes were great. I'm really enjoying the brother in law. Came off a tough, obnoxious, loudmouthed cop who's only in it for the frills but is gradually being revealed to be a really nice guy trying to do the best for everyone around him who really hates what drugs do to people. Loved him trying to warn walt jr off of marijuana. And when he asked Skylar to support her sister and she unleashed on him and he just gave her an awkward hug and offered to look at the water heater.

Yes. Hank is a wonderful character who's story has only just begun for you. In the beginning I didn't like him at all. They started him out as an obnoxious, male ego archetype who was incredibly crass with his offhand racist joking, & they made it easy for you to understand why Walt dislikes him. Hanks an overbearing asshole at times, but as he develops, you see the true nature of the man who just wants to be there for his messed up wife & his weird brother-in-law's family |

Not like he just chose to not involve himself , and left, leaving her to die. No. He waited and watched to see her die. This marks the beginning of the worm truly turning for Walt. His descent is incremental, but unavoidably pronounced. Prior to this, any death he's been involved in has been of a self defensive nature, and this death is not ant act BY him, per say, but without a doubt, a choice by him to see someone be dead, for his own interests. It is the next step down. This was the point that I & most viewers had to face the fact that though Walt is the lead, & the "every man" who had been likable and respectable enough in the beginning, we begin to discover, as he discovers it himself, that his morality is dubious & he might in fact be ok with that |

Oh, it's depressing at times for sure. It's also got moments that are totally gripping, & surprisingly there is a really sharp sense of humor that comes into play too Also, I find that Walking Dead is waaaaaay more depressing |

True. But, in my mind, one is fantasy. One is just a representation of a lifestyle / culture I despise. Although, I think I'd do rather well in a necropocolypse. I especially wouldn't leave a parking lot full of Humvee's and .50 cals unused! |

Someone described it to me by saying it's not like ordinary tv. It's more like Shakespeare. They don't play shocker type games with twists & misdirection. In fact, they want you to know what's going to happen,. I've been able to predict more of this show than any other I've ever watched, but even so, it's still captivating to watch it unfold |
