I agree, I think she does have mental issues and the best thing is to give her medicine so she will act normally again.

I'm confused. She was attempting to set a fire in some woman's driveway, when she somehow managed to douse her dog in gasoline?

Yeah, this is psych eval time, for sure. Clearly exhibiting behavior that is a danger to persons' safety. If they don't put her on something to straighten her out, she's on a fast track to a rubber room

I think she put the gas on the dog after or before she set the woman's driveway on fire. I don't remember. I heard the 911 call, the man said it was 5 feet from the woman's house! Imagine that. That's why they put her in a mental hospital/ward.

what is it that drives these people crazy...

do they already have tendencies and when they are placed in an environment where everyone wants to give them whatever they want they just all out
do they just succome to peer pressure...

why is it more often females than males.. or at least recently.. or does the press just show us the females more.. I mean.. did anyone know that the Glee guy was having trouble...was it mentioned that he was in rehab before the fact... are there no pics of him doing stupid stuff..

Yeah, the women tend to get more press about it, but it's happening just as much to men. Martin Lawrence, of all people, was waving a gun around

I'm of the belief that no one is beyond mental &/or psychological distress, though some people are closer to it than others. Everyone has a breaking point, & extremes are what push people to it

What's more extreme than being rich & universally desirable, such that people want to glom onto you?

Cory Monteith had done articles & interviews about his addiction. He openly spoke about his first rehab stint when he was 19.

In one interview he was quoted as saying that he would take anything & everything he could & that he was lucky to be alive! :(

He worked with an organisation in Canada that encouraged the youth to stay in school & stay off drugs. The two things he didn't do.

But although he spoke about it, to look at him, you never would have known he had problems because he had the money to keep his addiction going. It would have been a long time before he hit rock bottom & believe me that isn't something you what to see. :(

well there is a lot of rumours that she is schitzophrenic. That has nothing to do with her being famous. If she was famous or not she likely would have fallen apart at some point.

Amanda Bynes will remain hospitalized for an additional 30 days and her mother has been granted a temporary conservatorship over the former actress' finances and medical care, according to reports out Friday.

Bynes has been involuntarily hospitalized since late July 22 after she set a small fire in the driveway of a Thousand Oaks home, lighting her pants on fire in the process. Her initial 72-hour hold was later extended by two weeks, which ended Thursday night.

A judge traveled to the Ventura hospital where Bynes is being held to make the ruling about her continued care, TMZ reported. Doctors had reportedly made the decision that the "She's the Man" star should stay in their care, in line with state law that says such an arrangement can be made only if the patient is "gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder," the site said.

I get what you're saying. There definitely is a pressure (not sure that's the right word) for the girls in Hollywood to look & dress.

Think how the rest of us women feel when we look at fashion magazines & see how the famous people look, it must so much worse to actual live it. That pressure is enough to send even the most stable person a bit crazy.

Live long and prosper.....!!

Only if you succumb to it. The celebs spend thousands on an outfit which they may wear only once, then spend hours or days trying to get 'noticed' by the photographers, and if they don't get noticed they'll spend thousands more until they do. Or they'll do something 'outrageous' (Paris Hilton for eg) that pretty much guarantees thay'll make the tabloids. Personally, I really wouldn't want their lifestyle, and I know that Madam wouldn't either, we're happy just bimbling along doing our own thing !!

Look at what happened to Melissa McCartney because she is a bigger woman and is a force to be reckoned within Hollywood. So she is not a size 0, she has to be at least a 22 or larger but she is a great actress and a very beautiful woman.

The pressure is huge, look at us normal women. We don't want to be too skinny or too heavy, we have to have the right hair....and so on. And I know to a degree we don't care, we are all geeky girls and boys here too to a degree but we still do care how we look. Imagine being in the spotlight.

I am glad that someone is taking care of her and only wish that the countless other young celebrities get the help they need as well

And the whole point of my post - which you completely failed to notice lmao - was that a person DOES NOT have to succumb to the pressure of celebrity unless they want to !!
