So last weekend we had my cousin and her boyfriend over for dinner and I was distracted all night because I was embarrassed at how dirty my house was. It was tidy enough but stuff like baseboards that needed to be scrubbed, dirty windows and the bathroom needing a total scrubdown. I know it's just because it's been such a crazy year so far, but enough is enough. Combine this with too much time on Pinterest and I've become obsessed with the idea of making all my own cleaning products. I need a few ingredients for some of the fancier ones, but the basis of all of them is vinegar and baking soda. heavy duty floor cleaner I did have the ingredients for this one. 1/4 c vinegar 1/4 c baking soda 4 quarts of hot water. 1 tablespoon liquid dish soap I have no idea what a quart is because my country is half metric and half imperial and as a result I can barely measure anything so I threw in probably just over 4 litres of hot water then got on my hands and knees and scrubbed the floor. Results: results were good. Probably better than using my regular mr. clean. Floor felt a bit gritty afterwards, I'm assuming because of the baking soda but it wouldn't take much to just go over it with my vileda spray mop after. so I give it a success |

4 quarts is a gallon, and a gallon is just under 4 liters so there you are Mel, hopefully that will help

Tub shower and sink spray 12 oz hot vinegar 12 oz dawn dishwashing liquid mix together in a spray bottle and spray then wipe. Not sure how "diy" it is if it's half dish soap but I'll give it a try. Bought a little bottle of dawn at the dollar store because they all call for dawn. Just used the whole damn thing. Oh well, at least I have a cute little bottle for the motor home dish soap. Sprayed it on the tub and am letting it marinate right now. That hot vinegar smell will put hair on your chest.

I understand that salt helps too, especially with tough or ground-in dirt, it makes a good abrasive. |

ok, well the smell is powerful. But the tub came up sparkly and clean after a scrub with my tub scrubby. Better than any commercial tub cleaner I've used. So I moved on to the sink and outside of the toilet. Came up clean with a spray and a wipe. Or should I say a wipe, a rinse, and another wipe. Too foamy. Some comments said to add salt if it was too foamy. I assumed they were referring to foam in the bottle but maybe they were saying it about the foam when you spray. so for the tub I say uber success and for the sink I say merely good |

so I have one of those shower automatic sprayers that I love, but the stuff is $5 a bottle and we can go through one a week. DIY automatic shower spray 1/2 c hydrogen peroxide 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol 6 drops of Dawn dishwashing liquid 2 teaspoons jet dry Wrestle the cap off the empty bottle of shower spray. Pour all the ingredients into the bottle then fill with water. Give it a little shake then put the holder upside down on the bottle rather than the bottle into the sprayer like you usually would. You can also just put this in a spray bottle and spray the shower every day. It smells a little antiseptic, but maybe I will try putting some nicer smelling stuff in it next time I make it. I'll let you know how it works in a couple days. |

Spray Floor Cleaner so I have one of these mops linkage It's the same idea as a swiffer but you put your own fluid in and can wash the microfiber pad. Great invention. Up to now I've been using a mixture of water vinegar and mr. clean thrown together haphazardly. I found this recipe that promised amazing shine. 1 cup of alcohol 1cup of vinegar 1cup of water few drops of dishwashing liquid. I moped a small section of the floor and wasn't impressed. It wasn't shiny and was sticky. It's also far more expensive than my usual mix. I give it a fail |
