The Captain's back...

After years of hand me downs and one off pieces that were on sale I went and bought a cookware set. This might be refered to as a pots and pans set to some of you. I was a bit torn. All of the professionals seemed to use stainless steel. I do have a stainless steel pan. That bitch stains, false advertising. Also its a real chore to clean. Fry a steak? Scrub forever. Eggs? They stick.

Ive used non stick. They clean up easy. However you always hear the bad things about the chemicals used to make the non stick and how it gets in your food. Personally I think the air and water will do me in first. Anyhoots, I decided on ceramic non stick.

They had a set on sale at Macy's. It was Martha Stewart. I love that bitch. It was $179, which was cheaper than the stainless steel set at $500. It was an attractive set, light beige inside and out. The reviews were good as well.

By time I got my tax return, sale was over. Set was $299. I dont love Martha that much. When I was out for my weekly culture shock at Wal Mart I noticed they had a set. This set was black on the outside. $79. Got it and love it. And probably a good thing, im thinking the black exterior hides stains and belmishes better.

:) what do you boys and girls use?

We use two.

I don't know the one brand, but it's stainless steel w/ copper bottoms.

But, we are currently converting from that to cast-ion for everything.

Live long and prosper.....!!

We were gonna go with a matching set, but saw other pots and pans we liked, so we went the non-matching route, and have to say it's worked out ok. They're (mostly) non-stick, and sure the others need a bit of work, but using the right pan for the job does help (not using a steel pan to boil milk, etc) !!

We have a set of blue Le Crueset. I LOVE them. They were a wedding gift (or, rather, we exchanged some stuff and declared them to be our gift). We've been married for 20 years last May.

They are more or less these, but we don't have the two-handled thingie up front. We do have a big, honkin' stockpot in which you could probably boil down body parts. 'Cause hey, ya never know.

Once Ixalla was ready, Tathrelle cornered her. “Before we leave for work, I just want to tell you, I’m sorry. I guess I sort of shut down last night. I know you were in pain and I wasn’t too terribly supportive.” There was a wall covering in the main part of their chamber, something that Tathrelle hadn’t noticed before. She stared at it for a second and then shook her head.

Outside, a disembodied voice announced from a hidden speaker, “It is time to travel to all daytime places of employment. Transportation sleighs are available and ready. Citizens are encouraged to thank the sleigh drivers at the end of a successful transport. The government recommends haste, and requests that all pregnant persons be given preference for seating in their designated areas.”

A little distracted, Ixalla just asked, “Pain?”

Untrustworthy - by me, actually. It's for sale on Amazon

Cast iron is the best, though, isn't it?

We're buying a new piece or two every pay-day. I love them.

Great for so many things. Especially, no knead bread.

Haunt garage sales and flea markets - you can often find cast iron pans, and they're even seasoned in some cases.
