I think he somehow manages to say the worst and most obtuse things ever spoken at a wedding reception, within seconds of saying the greatest and most personally touching things. He literally, and believably has everyone stunned and repulsed one minute, and then has them heartwarmingly weeping the very next. It's a fantastic performance of some stellar dialog

You describe my exact experience of that episode far far better than I could ever have articulated myself.

Thanks :)

It's probably my 3rd favorite episode, just behind Reichenbach Falls & A Study in Pink, and just ahead of A Scandal in Belgravia. It does more to humanize Sherlock than just about any other episode. As he completes his inevitable night of triumphant virtuosity & stardom, he's suddenly & awkwardly alone in a room full of jubilant party goers, and only Molly seems to notice his quiet & mysterious exit. Such a joy to watch, because it had to always be about more than just the criminal cases. It's about this person we'll know intimately, & the very limited few who have a connection with him in different ways

The most endearing characters have always been the ones whose stories about love, trust, loyalty & camaraderie are amplified by their distance from, their difficulty with, or incapability to participate in those very qualities . It's why we love Sherlock, or Dr. House, Sheldon Cooper, Spock, Data, etc... To portray a character that is outside humanity in some degree, is to put humanity under a microscope that you otherwise couldn't

Sherlock gets that better than almost anything I've ever seen. They even take you on the occasional ride into his mind

(The plans for more are now finalized and not nebulous anymore. Yay. Air dates on the other hand...... :D But actually much sooner than I'd been thinking it might turn out to be.)

'The Game Is On Again!'
BBC confirms new Sherlock episodes Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will be back as Holmes and Watson in 2015.

As promised earlier on Wednesday - after teasing the hashtag #221back on its Twitter page, the BBC finally announced news of the episodes at 2.21pm, via the inevitably cryptic tweet:

#Sherlock #221back ...why is Moriarty's face being broadcast on every television in the land?
(@BBCOne) July 02, 2014

They went on to confirm that filming on the special would begin in January 2015, with the other three episodes going into production later in the year.

No broadcast date has been given for the new episodes, although rumours have suggested the special could air over Christmas 2015, followed by the new series.

They have also 'teased' the possibility of Jim Moriarty making his return in the new episodes, by posting the message:

#Sherlock #221back Did you miss me? - accompanied with a picture of Sherlock's nemesis grinning.

#Sherlock #221back ...why is Moriarty's face being broadcast on every television in the land?
(@BBCOne) July 02, 2014

Not suggesting BBC One is a tad excited about all this, but they've even changed their Twitter handle to Sherlock - #221back - while posting things like this:

#Sherlock #221back *Dons deerstalker in anticipation*
(@BBCOne) July 02, 2014

I will remember.

I never had any doubt. I don't care how big their careers have gotten, with Trek and the Hobbit, etc... There's just no way either of them can turn down more Sherlock. It's too damn good. It's pretty much the best Holmes reboot of my life time, imho

Apparently, they've announced a 3rd Downey Jr. Holmes film. They should just pack it in. Those are ridiculous in comparison

I had a similar reaction. If you go back now & rewatch it, she is much more likeable even before the twist. She's a ready made fit for the group. She's Martin Freeman's real life girlfriend, & Sherlock's parents are Cumberbatche's real life parents, & the boy who plays young Sherlock is son of the show creator. The damn show is nearly a family production

That high functioning sociopath line is brought up many times throughout all 3 seasons. There's been hints at Autism, Asperger's, OCD, but Sherlock seems to favor mentioning the high functioning sociopath one, & I believe it's because its the one that makes him seem less handicapped & more purposed

He's basically a 19th century Tony Stark.

Anyone else notice John calling Sherlock Spock in hounds of baskerville?

They don't do it any more than other things. They poke fun at Mrs. Hudson's sorted past, just as much

One of my favorite lines of season 3 is at the wedding

Sherlock: Imagine someone's going to get murdered at a wedding. Who would you pick?

Mrs. Hudson: I'd think you're a popular choice at the moment, dear

Sherlock: If someone could move Mrs. Hudson's glass slightly out of reach, that would be lovely.

Sherlock: Am I the king of England?

John: No... You do know we don't have a king don't you?

They filmed a ridiculous amount of stuff for the drunk scenes & had to cut so much of it for time. Netflix has a few behind the scenes things available

Watch the last episode! It's gooood
