The standard colours of marshmallows are white and pink, and when you buy a bag of them you usually get a mixture of the two colours. Correct? I'm particularly interested in the Canadian view of this important issue.

oh no no no

our marshmallows are standardly all white. And usually campfire size. You can get them small and also multi coloured. The multi coloured look like this http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-2688596-pastel-colored-marshmallow.php

marshmallows fascinate me. What are they made of. Why are they so fluffy.

In germany we usually only have white ones as well. But there is a candy which tastes a lot like marshmallows which comes in pink and white xD

There can be only one

What they are, and why they are fluffy is a combination of carefully cooked, aerated and cooled confection of sugar, corn syrup, gelatin, water and other substances. and I typically only ever see large ones in a bag of white. I take great pride and meticulously and patiently turning and roasting the perfect marshmallow.

9 times out of 10 marshmallows are white here in the US.
unless they're those like wissa posted. sometimes they're
rolled in toasted coconut or some powdered flavoring like strawberry.

years ago the governor of new york (i forget who it was) was on the
letterman show and was talking about a new tax they put on snacks.
they then had to decide what was a "snack" and what wasn't. there was a
big debate over marshmallows, whether they were a food or a snack.
it was finally decided that the big ones were food (and not taxable) and the
mini ones were snacks (& therefore taxable)

_lmao_ that's ridiculus. You are far more likely to bake with the small ones.

There was a similar thing here with Jaffa Cakes - they're sold as though they are biscuits (cookies) but should really be classed as cake.

The same they figured it out was by leaving out a Jaffa Cake & a biscuit - biscuits go soft when they go off, but cake goes hard.

All that just to decide what the tax should be!

Ooh no, they taste like marshmallows but you can't toast them, I think. And there are some which taste a bit differently and look like mice

I know the minty things you mean though, those are pretty good.

they sell kind of giant ones now (not as big as those)
about the size of a small child's (maybe a 2 or 3 year old?) fist.
