Anyone else seen this? My wife and I discovered it the other day while at Best Buy (it was on the big screens) and watched the first to episodes last night. I love it. |

Of course you do. I started a thread on it ages ago but nobody else saw it. The books are much better of course. AVOID SPOILERS |

I noticed there's a few seasons already. I'm just two episodes in. I imagine you're all current on the show. It's rare that I don't have to "give a show a chance to grow on me". This one grabbed me. And that's not accounting for the gratuitous female flesh. Of course, I rarely find myself displeased with anything Sean Bean does. Bravo Two Zero - Sharpe's Rifles - Black Death - and this. I'll have to give the books a look. That reminds me... have to look up another thread real quick. |

I've just started watching too, seen the first episode. I'm pretty squeamish about all the violence, but other than that, I'm liking it a lot. |

He's made a few duds but not many. The star of the show for me though is the little girl who plays Arya Stark. And Tyrion the Dwarf of course. Yeah so far there's two seasons covering the first two books. Again i'd say AVOID SPOILERS. I can't stress that enough! |

That's why I've not watched it, even the trailer make me cringe a bit. So I knew I wouldn't like it, shame because I did want to watch it as Jason Mamoa is in it from SGA |

I gravitated towards Ned Stark, but... I also really like Greyjoy. Arya and Tyrion are favorites of mine too. There's a lot of characters to become really fond of. I like it. And those I am supposed to hate, I do so passionately. The girl, Headly, who plays the Queen, here face bothers me. It's that smirk. I hated it way back when she was on the 300 and the Sarah Conor Chronicles. Not sure I'm understanding what you mean about avoid spoilers, beyond the general sense, of course. |

There's a lot of plot twists that you'd want to avoid, eg the killing off of that major character at the end of the first series. S2 has been broadcast so it's probably possible to get hold of one way or another. Or you could read the books, which are even better. Interesting you mention Theon Greyjoy if you've only seen the first season. His role is beefed up considerably in the second. |

I can certainly see where Greyjoy will play a more significant role in the S2. Ser Jorah Mormont is another character that started in the last episodes to become a central figure that I really like. As I said earlier, this show / books are written very well. Hard to pick just one. Put in an order with my wife to get the books. |

I love the solemn way Iain Glen intones all of his lines. He was the same when he was that cleric soldier in Doctor Who. |

So I found a cheap filler for GOT for now. Legend of the Seeker. It's not a bad show. And what's not to love about the Mord Sith. |

I've never seen that, although the books on which it's based are notoriously terrible (but very popular). |

The show isn't bad. There's a certain level of cornball that reminds me of 90's shows like Xena and Hercules. I almost stopped watching after the first episode, but kept going out of boredom. It eventually grew on me. I think it's targeting a younger audience... teens and young adults, maybe. The second season is a little bit more serious and the characters are likable. I'd say, if you've got some dead time and something akin to Netflix, give it a try, but don't expect the high art that is GOT and you won't be disappointed. |

It's interesting that almost all the actors are Kiwi yet all have an "American Accent" in the show. |

Strange choices- I don't know why they insisted on English accents for Game of Thrones. The books are American and half of the cast is Irish. |

I think English accents work better than American for fantasy novels. Partly because there never was a medieval America and partly because it helps to sell the "other worldness" of a the fantasy genre with a foreign accent. I also think that over the years, people have just come to expect a knight to have an English accent. There's a perceived level of "classiness" with that accent (at least here in America - unless you watch BBC reality tv regularly.) Watching a "knight" in seeker with an American style goatee and accent was hard to get through at first. This guy look and sounded like a Iowan bar-fly. |

At least if they were all American we wouldn't have the problem whereby half of Eddard Stark's children sound like northerners and half don't, and some of the men of the Vale sound Welsh while the main one (Littlefinger) doesn't... |

I was given the books for Christmas. So far so great. I'm surprised at how well the show matches the books (thus far). |
