What idea troubles you more, if at all?

The idea of living eternally disturbs me. It's rather like getting to a point in a game, where you've done it all, and not you're just playing just to play. No more challenge. No more surprises. Separation by millions, billions or trillions of years from your loved ones. You could raise up and destroy empires a million times, but after a certain point it just becomes bland, boring eternal life.

On the other hand, never to see, love, think or feel again. Forever shrouded in death. That's terrifying.

I haven't really thought of reincarnation until this morning on the way to work. For me, I guess that's the worst of both worlds.

Your thoughts.

Live long and prosper.....!!

Am a Buddhist, so reincarnation kinda goes with the territory !!

Eternal life wouldn't bother me, I just think of all the possibilities it would allow. You really could go and explore the universe, however long it would take, and all the discoveries you could make along the way !!

Death is something that bothers me, which as a Buddhist it shouldn't really - we believe in the 'cycle of life' birth-death-rebirth - death is just the end of one chapter, and the beginning of another. But I dunno, take it back to just a single life - live a few years, then dead forever - seems kinda wasteful to me, especially if that life never had a chance to really achieve any kind of potential !!

The ancient Greeks had a solution to the fairly horrific concept of immortality. In the afterlife, when you got tired of eternal paradise, rivers of honey, nubile nymphs etc all you had to do was drink from the waters of Lethe and you'd forget it all, and it would be like you'd just arrived. That's probably the best way to deal with it.

Eternal Death. Eternal Life doesn't bother me, I love vampires! Reincarnation is something I don't know if I entirely believe in but I don't not believe in it.

Eternal Death scares me.

Well, as an Atheist, eternal death is par for the course. Although I wouldn't describe it in the way you did. It's just the cessation of existence.
Had no life-->had life-->have no life. Enjoy it while it lasts

Eternal life... Meh... I suppose after long enough, I'd stop thinking of myself as a human at all, & once human morals, ethics, & values were off the table, I doubt I'd have too much problem living with it. I'd adjust to the paradigm. Although, I wouldn't really be me anymore

Eternal reincarnation? I hope I'm not offending anyone, but it sounds like a horrific joke. The notion of continually having to start all over again, & not have any more of a clue than you did the last time? What kind of sick shit is that?

I'll vote for that

Edit: You forgot the one everybody tends to believe in. Eternal afterlife. I'm not a fan of that either

there was an episode of VOY about that Q who was bored
with how stagnate things had become for his species & wanted
to off himself. *runs to memory alpha* it was called death wish.

i think all of them are a major drag in one way or another.

That would be ideal.
