Yoda: Jedi Master" has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Or maybe just "The Jedi Master."

Well, before it can have a title, it has to actually exist, and for now a stand-alone "Star Wars" film that puts the powerful pint-sized denizen of Dagobah front and center is just the latest rumor to come out of a galaxy far, far away (well, not that far anymore -- it's now at Disneyland, after all).

Ain't It Cool News first brought word that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy might be doing a lot more than just having secret meetings with J.J. Abrams as she's apparently in the early stages of what Disney does best: milking a brand for all it's worth. Sure, Abrams is going to be directing "Episode VII," but there's more than just a new "Star Wars" trilogy in store -- we're going to be getting a bunch of spinoff films as well, and if Zack Snyder's rumored (and since denied) Jedi-centric riff on "Seven Samurai" isn't going to be the first one out of the gate, then maybe a Yoda movie will be.

Slowly but surely, the original cast of Star Wars is announcing their return to the sequel. Actress Carrie Fisher has now confirmed that she’ll be back as Princess Leia in Star Wars VII.

In an interview with Palm Beach Illustrated, Fisher was asked about the franchise:

“Can you confirm whether you’ll reprise the role of Princess Leia?”

Fisher responded with a very simple “Yes.” When asked how she envisioned her character, she said:

“Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home… I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.”

By this point he can do whatever he likes really. He's richer than God and doesn't need to work with any studio ever again.

First, the good news for "Star Wars" fans: Lucasfilm is exploring a new "Star Wars" animated series that will be "set in a time period previously untouched in 'Star Wars' films or programming."

Now, that bad news: It's pulling the plug on the Cartoon Network series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars." And the perhaps-not-so-bad news: Lucasfilm is also ditching plans for "Star Wars Detours," a comedic animated series from Seth Green, Matthew Senreich and Todd Grimes, at least for the time being.

If you're the kind of fan who can't get enough "Star Wars," Disney has just made the announcement you've been dreaming of.

In a presentation Wednesday at CinemaCon, the annual meeting of the National Theater Owners Association, Disney representatives unveiled some big plans for the "Star Wars" franchise after purchasing Lucasfilm for $4 billion. While it's well known that "Star Wars: Episode VII" is in the works and poised for release in the summer of 2015, Disney is saying after that, fans can expect a new "Star Wars" movie every summer for at least five years, with installments in the official series alternating with stand-alone films that will focus on well-loved characters in the "Star Wars" universe.

That means six "Star Wars" movies between 2015 and 2020. That's a lot of lightsabers.

Obi-Wan Kenobi said act on instinct — but others might see this as a disturbance in the Force …

Lucasfilm has announced that Star Wars: Episode VII director J.J. Abrams and Raiders of the Lost Ark writer Lawrence Kasdan have taken over screenwriting duties from Michael Arndt, an Oscar winner for Little Miss Sunshine and nominee for Toy Story 3, who had previously been working on the story.

The movie is slated for release in 2015 but no firm date has been set. In its announcement about the screenwriter shuffle today, Lucasfilm said the current plan is still to begin shooting in Spring 2014.

Abrams started out as a screenwriter with such films as Regarding Henry and Forever Young before becoming more genre and sci-fi focused with Alias, Lost, and movies such as Mission: Impossible 3, Super 8, and the Star Trek reboot.

Kasdan has a rich history in the Star Wars universe. While best known as a writer-director of dramas such as Body Heat, The Big Chill and The Accidental Tourist, Kasdan also co-wrote The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. He had been consulting on the development of the new trilogy, which picks up with the Rebellion after the death of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine.
