This just illustrates the point. Schools are just afraid of getting sued.
Don't let them touch
Don't let them eat peanuts
Don't let them do this
Don't let them do that

They don't care if it's good for them... they just don't want any chance of anything happening that they can get sued for.

Live long and prosper.....!!

That's the litigation mentality of America and elsewhere these days - if it's not right, sue them. The days of a simple apology have long gone, now there's money to be made, and plenty of lawyers to encourage it !!

Officials at a Texas high school plan to ask their board tonight to change a policy requiring that spanking punishments be administered only by employees of the same gender as the student to receive the punishment.

That proposed request comes on the heels of outcry after a male vice principal in the district administered legal spanking punishments to female students.

Taylor Santos, a well-regarded student and athlete at Springtown High School, near Fort Worth, Texas, chose to be paddled as punishment for allowing another student to copy her homework. She opted for the paddling over a second day of suspension after having already served one day of a two-day suspension.

Her mother, Anna Jorgensen, agreed to the punishment as long as her daughter was OK with it, but was surprised the spanking was administered by a man, she told local ABC affiliate WFAA.

As far as Jorgensen knew, she said, school policy mandated that males spank males and females spank females.

She said her daughter's buttocks were red and appeared blistered due to the force of the spanking.

A Texas father is hitting the streets to support his son, who he says is being punished for standing up to a bully.

Randy Duke of Victoria, Texas, walks for a couple of hours each day in front of Cade Middle School carrying a sign that reads "Bullying victims are punished here," reports KHOU.

Duke's 14-year-old son, Max, was disciplined for allegedly fighting with a student who had been bullying him, Duke said.

"He's at the point where [he said], 'Dad, I couldn't walk away, 'cause he just follows me and beats up on me all the time,'" Duke told KHOU. "Then when he finally has to take matters into his own hands, he gets punished."

Celebrating birthdays at school just got a little less fun for kids in Australia. New guidelines issued Tuesday by the country's National Health and Medical Research Council say that children can no longer blow out the candles on cakes at school because doing so spreads too many germs.

WILLINGBORO, N.J. -

As kids head back to school, parents are once again faced with the choice: do they let their children buy lunch or do they brown-bag it? But a new lunchtime policy in one local school district has some parents furious.

Most parents in Willingboro should have gotten a letter from the school district in the mail today. It talks about a new lunch program. The new lunch program states that if kids, not on the Free and Reduced Lunch program, don't have money to pay for their school lunch, they will go hungry for the day. This is the newest policy for the Willingboro, New Jersey school district.

the rest here

basically there's a loadable card that the kids use to pay for lunch instead of cash. if they card has a zero balance, the kid goes hungry at school until it's reloaded.

Talk about one extreme to another. So in Texas they are beating kids with wooden paddles an here in California they want to let kids use the restroom for the gender in which they identify.

First off, I don't understand all this talk about kids knowing they are transgendered at an early age. Hormones are surging at that age. Sometimes its hard to distinguish between a same sex crush and being gay. This doesn't even take into account things like hero worship or strong fondness such as young people have with sports stars or musicians.

Now at 12 years old they say they want to cut their dick off and get a boob job  and in the mean time they should be able to use the girls room. We don't want this one confused kid to feel uncomfortable, but screw all of the little girls that have to use the same restroom. Who cares what they feel.

Now days its the needs of the one, or the few, outweigh the needs of the many.

No wonder we have so many kids going to school and killing others. They don't know how to handle rejection or those who differ with them. In this protected environment everyone else is forced to conform to them. When it doesn't happen that way they snap.

That story is deranged on a number of levels. The parent's problem seems not to be that the school allows adults to beat children for benign and victimless misdemeanours. The parent's problem is that girls and boys get equally badly treated, when apparently to her mind the punishment should be milder for females. Why?

Is there another Texas that i've not heard of, up a mountain in Pakistan or somewhere?

I think the biggest problem is the absolutism. It's ban this, and ban that, versus rules that are thought out and allow for some interpretation, leniency and even repentance.

The only ban I can see is the nut one. I love peanut butter, etc., and taking it away as an option would have made life rather difficult for me, particularly after I turned 13, as I was an ovo-lacto vegetarian until I was 28. Peanut butter and sprout sandwiches were a mainstay. But I do understand the restriction, as it is a life or death thing.

But the rest of this? Cripes; it's the land o' stupid.

We had paddling in my elementary school.

Which I left in 1973.

Paddling was removed as a punishment maybe a year after that. I don't recall ever seeing or hearing of anyone who got it.

40 f'ing years ago, people!

40.

Land o' stupid.
Once Ixalla was ready, Tathrelle cornered her. “Before we leave for work, I just want to tell you, I’m sorry. I guess I sort of shut down last night. I know you were in pain and I wasn’t too terribly supportive.” There was a wall covering in the main part of their chamber, something that Tathrelle hadn’t noticed before. She stared at it for a second and then shook her head.

Outside, a disembodied voice announced from a hidden speaker, “It is time to travel to all daytime places of employment. Transportation sleighs are available and ready. Citizens are encouraged to thank the sleigh drivers at the end of a successful transport. The government recommends haste, and requests that all pregnant persons be given preference for seating in their designated areas.”

A little distracted, Ixalla just asked, “Pain?”

Think that's stupid, in my school days they had The Cane - a length of wood, bamboo usually, which was used on the kids' hands or backside for some misdemeanour or other, and it's use and number of strokes we got was arbitrarily decided by the headmaster - the teachers had their own form of punishment, from standing in a corner, lobbing the board eraser at the kid (at the teachers' full strength), to getting a shoe battered on some part of the body the backside usually, or whatever they could use to hurt or humiliate the kid to 'knock some sense into them' !!

Can't say it ever worked, however, the kids took the punishment but it didn't change their attitude any - they just found new ways to piss the teachers off !!

Ok, I'm just going to say it. It can be equally pervy for people of the same gender to be paddling teens in school as it is for opposite genders. The fucking gender is really REALLY not the issue. Exactly who thinks spanking a teenager's ass is anything but some kind of sexual deviance?

I mean.... How did she lay there on the old creep's lap until she was fully blistered before she decided to find it objectionable? There is an undercurrent of utter shadiness to this whole sick thing

Disciplining students for having weapons in school is a no-brainer. But for having imaginary ones? Makes sense to at least one principal, in Pennsylvania, who suspended 10-year-old Johnny Jones for “shooting” an imaginary bow-and-arrow at a classmate. But now the boy’s parents are firing back with the aid of the Rutherford Institute, a national civil rights group, seeking to have his record expunged.

“He’s got a weapons charge — it’s crazy,” notes John Whitehead, lead attorney and founder of the Virginia-based organization, which sent a letter to South Eastern School District Superintendent Rona Kaufmann on Dec. 4. The letter calls the school’s action “ludicrous,” asking Kaufmann to remove the charge from Johnny’s permanent record and rescind his one-day suspension; it gives the school until Dec.13 to respond.

I can say, definitively, that imaginary guns don't kill people.
