in the UK they're banning best friends because they don't want the kids
to be upset over fall-outs

schools in NJ ban hugging because of
instances of inappropriate contact.

although they now claim they're not

in other things schools are banning news;
a connecticut school bans form-fitting clothes, claims they're "distracting."

My old school briefly banned all physical contact between students, after i'd left. Parents and students kicked up a stink because it was so stupid.

that is pretty crazy.

though I can totally understand how tight clothes and low cut clothes would be distracting in highschool.

There can be only one

I just dont get this whol "no-hugging" or "no PDA" thing....why dont we all start raising a even more screwed up dysfunctional bunch of kids, with all the troubles of life that they already have to deal with??

Trust me...No one wants know what its like not getting any form of physical affection much less attention.
The unambiguous and defined essence of a truest friend, is a single soul, shared in two bodies. A person who completes you so, that it pains you when they hurt, and sustains you when they are with you, no matter how far.

THey technically had a no touching rule at my school, ('there must be 30 centimeters of space between students) which I guess covered hugging but no one really obeyed it or enforced it.

Every now and again they'd remind us of it, and the next few days would be full of everyone being smart asses:

Teacher: Come do blah blah blah
Student: Oh but sir, I can't do that because I'd be too close to whatsherface. Oh, and we should spend this lesson rearranging all the desks because they're all too close together too.

Or everyone would start inappropriately touching members of the same sex, since the rule didn't really cover that. We were a marvellous bunch of trolls :allteeth:

We had a uniform, but free dress days had the same dress code as in the article. No one really followed it much either.

As for banning best friends... I get encouraging people to have more than one friend, but banning best friends? What. The. Fuck?

I used to babysit these two boys whose father believed.... well I'm not sure exactly. But the father never touched them and the mother wasn't allowed to either. When their parents left they would attach themselves to me and wouldn't let go till their parents got home. Thank god their mother finally left him.

Yeah... that's healthy :wissa:

Just spent an hour or so at the mechanic sitting next to a guy, playing patty cake with his 5 year old daughter, the entire time. As mind numbingly dull as that must have been for him, that little girl was happier than a pig in shit

If you don't show tangible affection to your kids, they grow up & gun down public officials

Edit: And usually the ones who don't deserve it

i.e. this guy

my mom heard about this one woman that never held her baby. she'd just pick it up to change or wash it & then put it back in the crib. she bottle fed & just left the baby in the crib while she fed it. well, the baby wasn't growing & was sickly. the doctors couldn't find out why, so they had a pediatric nurse observe what she did with the kid & saw all this. since it was her first baby & she didn't have younger siblings, she didn't know what to to with a baby. so her doctor had the nurse show her how to hold the baby while feeding, rock it to sleep & just hold it once in a while. after a while the baby started to grow & wasn't as sickly.

Three-and-a-half year old Hunter Spanjer, who is deaf, signs his name by crossing his forefinger and index finger and moving his hand up and down.

To his family, friends and those who know the Signing Exact English (S.E.E.) language that the Grand Island, Neb., boy uses, that gesture uniquely means "Hunter Spanjer."

But to Hunter's school district, it might mean something else. The district claims that it violates a rule that forbids anything in the school that looks like a weapon, reports KOLN-TV.

And Hunter's parents claim that Grand Island Pubic Schools administrators have asked them to change their son's sign language name.

An honors student at a California middle school is at the center of an alleged discrimination incident at her school. Deja, an 11-year-old student, says that a teaching assistant dismissed her from class at Mount Gleason Middle School for wearing "racy" brown leggings.

The school's dress code explicitly states that students can not wear tights alone. The assistant allegedly said the tights were too racy because their brown color made it appear that Deja, who is African American, was not wearing any pants at all.

It's hard to believe something as small as a peanut could cause so much controversy. But put it in a lunch bag and it can divide a school.

In Viola, Arkansas, a debate is heating up, after a student had his peanut butter and jelly sandwich confiscated at lunchtime. The school has a no-peanut-products policy due to a few students with allergies, so the teacher helped the little boy get a new lunch and sent home a note explaining the situation to his mom.

That note didn't go over well, apparently. Soon after the incident, a 'School Nut Ban Discussion' group was launched on Facebook by parents conflicted over the policy.
