Is Voyager a rehashed version of TNG?

After reading several comments from the mothership and a few other sites over the years, is it so?

I think they fell into a pattern that was pretty successful with tng. I honestly haven't watched much of it though

there only so much you can do with
that type of series. i.e. a ship exploring space
& the crew interacting with aliens and each other
without repeating story ideas.

Live long and prosper.....!!

Ok some of the storylines are similar, which as AWOL said is understandable. However the characters are different enough to make both series unique imho !!

I think its a pattern.. the type of show.. but not really a rehash.. some episodes my be rehashed.. but in general it is its own creature... that is following a preset pattern.

there was alot more drama in VOY, not always good drama.. but drama.
All my posts are done from my tablet. I apologize for all strange errors in my posts... as swype hates me. :violet:

TNG was all about the diplomacy and the wacky space phenomena. I don't know what Voyager was about really.

Well?!?!

Voyager reminds me of Red Dwarf.

Lost, far from home. Its got a hologram and a guy with whiskers.

Voyager reminded me more of The Original Series than anything else. They were in uncharted space, meeting completely new species, and the Captain was in charge totally. I think that is why I liked it a lot. Sure it wasn't exactly the same but enjoyable to me anyways.

I don't think it is. I think what they did was the beginning of DS9 was very boring to a lot of fans, myself included. It got much better for me with the addition of the Defiant and Worf.

I think they wanted to start off on a better playing field, I think they wanted it to succeed faster than DS9 did. Considering at the time TNG was not on. Don't forget DS9, at least where I was, had TNG as their lead in.
