I just saw a preview for "The Raven" starring John Cusack. I'm a fan of Poe, so the idea of integrating his tales into a movie instantly appeals to me. My favorite story as a kid was "The Cask of Amontillado". I read it when I was in fifth grade and loved the phrase, "nemo me impune lacessit". As a nerdy kid (read: bully bait), the idea of exacting vengeance on one's oppressors rang true. :pirate:

The director is supposed to be the James McTeigue, from "V for Vendetta"...another movie I love. Here's hoping I don't get my hopes up to be disappointed. It'll be like losing my virginity all over again.

That's written on the money over here.

So is this film like The Crow, or what?

Supposedly, there is going to be a killer on the loose who is using Poe's fictional stories as templates for murders. Poe somehow gets called in to help investigate. So it should have a 19th century, Shelock Holmes-y feel.

I like John Cusack in most roles, so I have hope for the movie.

there was supposed to be a TV show this fall
about a young poe being an amateur detective,
investigating murders & other crimes around balitmore.
(he's credited with writing the first detective story.)
i can't recall if it was picked up or not. :mojo:
