I have never seen an episode of this show, although the movie was good. My Clinical Supervisor at work discovered this and has become concerned, as he is a big fan. He has therefore leant me the first season on DVD. So I am about to start it.

May you get as much enjoyment out of it as I have.
All seasons of all the various SG genres (SG1, Atlantis, Universe) are available for streaming from Netflix.

Stick with SG1 for now - Atlantis would be next or pick it up where it actually begins somewhere around season 8 of SG1.
Once done with all 10 of SG1, watch the two movies in order - Ark of Truth, then Continuum, then watch Universe.

I say this every time the topic comes up. I walked out of the movie theater after seeing stargate and said

"that would make a good tv show"

That first movie was awesom - way ahead of its time and seemingly original in thought

Well, I made it through the first half of the first episode and I'll admit, I'm struggling with it. Not sure if its going anywhere. I'll try to finish it tomorrow.

I'm a BLOND Vulcan....I'm MOSTLY logical.

3 Things

1) I live in Colorado Springs. It is absolutely amazing how many people ask "So is there there really a Stargate in Cheyenne Mountain?" (For those who might wonder....I've been inside the mountain. Yes, the tunnel scene is true. However, NO Stargate but there is a man made lake and a small electrical plant.)

2) I'm still a little miffed about that one episode where it's suggested that Sam and the guy visit the zoo and she says "Colorado Springs doesn't have a zoo." WHAT! The writers couldn't do a little bit of basic research? We have a fantastic zoo! And it's called the Cheyenne Mountain zoo.

3) Stick with the show. There a lot to like about the TV series (even with #2 above)

I'm watching for the first time too. I am in season 6. It has been very amusing.
Something good will go here soon.

There are some good jokes in the show. Like when the lady Captain says something about MacGyvering something together.

There is a lot of nod to trek over the course of the series too

I don't know, I finished the first episode finally. Wasn't too intrigued by it. You all are saying it gets better, so I'll give it a few more episodes and see what it does........and please tell me it isn't going to have every planet being a coastal cedar rainforest like the ones convieniently around Vancouver BC, because after Andromeda, Smallville and Battlestar Galactica, I'm not sure I can take much more of that!

No....many planets will be downright inhospitable, but yeah, there will be some nice lush worlds out there as well

But seriously, took you this long to get through one episode? Dude, this is gonna take you forever

williamslakesm, please do not judge the whole series on one episode. Review at least two seasons to make a judgement.

I think I always say back that the creators of SG1 both said the same thing!

There is a door which says "Stargate Command" in there though. It's shown on one of the DVD extras (can't remember which season set it's on) Granted it's the door of a broom closet but still, I think that's pretty cool

Oh & Wissa do you want to move this to Norad please. :)

Seriously, with the two jobs, two children and its hunting season, an hour of TV normally takes three days!

Doesn't matter how long it takes you to get through each episode, as long as you enjoy it. That's the main thing. :)
