I think that's somewhat ridiculous. Sexuality is a part of humans. Kids learn from the examples set before them, therefore is it wrong if their parents are hugging and kissing in front of them? Should their examples of healthy sexuality only be mirrored in hetro couples then? I think not. It doesn't need to be in their face, but I do think kids are much smarter about such things than we give them credit for. |

![]() Hey Bert, guess what? .... What Ernie? DEEEZ NUUUTS !!! |
| The unambiguous and defined essence of a truest friend, is a single soul, shared in two bodies. A person who completes you so, that it pains you when they hurt, and sustains you when they are with you, no matter how far. | |

I never said that, but where in Sesame Street is sexuality really exhibited at all? I admit I haven't seen it in a while, but I seem to think some of the characters are even kind of androgynous. Sexuality hasn't really been a foreground issue on the show, nor need it be We're not talking exclusively about kids, but about the show & what it represents, & it has decided to not feature sexuality to any major degree I think if Ernie hugged or kissed Burt, in the context of a sketch, no one would have a problem with that, but to talk about them getting married is kind of silly, just as much as if we were talking about Big Bird & Snuffy getting married. I don't even know what sex Big Bird is, so how do we even begin defining them in a sexual way like this? You don't really have to |

I don't think anyone here is too worked up. Have you seen craziness over the subject elsewhere?

Sesame Street is the best thing ever to come out of America. It made me who I am today. |

I agree that insisting puppets on a children's show MUST be in a gay relationship just because they live together is exceptionally stupid, but since there are shows that represent chaste heterosexual relationships between puppets, (e.g Kermit and Miss Piggy on the Muppets) so there's no reason why people should suddenly start ranting OMG THEY'RE PUPPETS THEY CAN'T BE GAY! |

You know in the old days they had no problem with the idea of two people of the same sex having close, non-sexual relationships. Even now, when I was in Little India in Singapore, I saw pairs of men holding hands and I very much doubt there was ever anything going on between them, it was just normal. We're hypersensitive about sexuality these days, for better and for worse. |

I agree. Every relationship has to be labeled and defined and put in a box. It's insulting to think that people can't relate on any level other than sexual. |

Also agree. I get particularly annoyed that a lot of people think gay/bi people can't have platonic relationships with people of the same sex. I also can't stand people who get jealous over their partner's friends, as though it's just expected that liking someone means you want to jump them. |

i was thinking something similar a while ago. it used to be if two women or men were friends for 20-25 years people would say; "that's great!" now they say; "they must be homosexual." |
