Awsome story about caring, charitiable, and non-conceited celebrities giving a helping hand

Mollz is just taking out a little anger because the Vikings of Minnesota lost another battle today. :pfft: :violet:
The unambiguous and defined essence of a truest friend, is a single soul, shared in two bodies. A person who completes you so, that it pains you when they hurt, and sustains you when they are with you, no matter how far.

I'm actually impressed with them today. It was a good game and we didn't majorly fail like we usually do.

why do studios still make movies staring eddie murphy?
when most movies where he's staring (not second or third billing) flop?

the following is from imdb:
imagine that--budget: $55,000,000 (estimated) gross: $16,088,610 (USA)
meet dave--budget: $60,000,000 (estimated) gross: $11,802,056 (USA)
norbit--budget: $60,000,000 (estimated) gross: $95,323,496 (USA) [i think a movie has to make about twice what they put into it to be a hit]
the haunted mansion--budget: $90,000,000 (estimated) gross: $75,817,994 (USA)

it could that they make it up overseas or in DVD sales. :idon'tknow:
and once-upon-a-time julia roberts was considered box office poison
before she hit it big again in notting hill, so maybe time will tell.

I'd waste time wishing for the end of their kraze (see what I did there? I must be trendy, like them :moon: ha ha) but something equally or even more deplorable would come along. I wanted an end of Britney Spears and Celine Dion and along came Lady Gaga, Paris Hilton and the Kardashians.

They're a symptom of the disease our popular culture has become. I shudder to think of archaeologists five hundred years from now looking over relics of our era. Imagine a museum, along the hallway you see paintings by Rembrandt and DaVinci and busts of Mozart. Turning the corner to the next exhibit you see Andy Warhols (I actually like a lot of his stuff), a pack of Marlboros on a pedastal and a bust of Kim K's rear.

:liz: be careful what you wish for.

I wouldn't worry too much about the state of society though. There has always been and always will be really stupid forms of entertainment. It doesn't last so we tend not to be aware of the past ones.

I think like Wissa says there has always been high brow and low brow culture- it's just the crappy stuff is forgotten. Nobody will remember Paris Hilton after she's gone.

In more general terms, the cult of celebrity does seem like a fairly new phenomenon, and not really a positive one. It's pretty insidious- kids are focusing on fame as a major life goal far more now than in times past. That Skater Boy song by Avril Lavigne came on the radio earlier, and the message of it seems cool at first but is pretty dodgy in some ways. It seems to imply that the girl in the song rejecting the boy made a mistake, purely because he later became famous. As if that's the best indicator of a person's value.

So my wife was watching Rudolph the other night. Didn't they used to at least wait until December to air that? That would be like airing the Peanuts Halloween special in September.

you ever notice that when you look behind the first row at the oscars half the time you have no idea who those people are?

I have noticed that Louis Gosset Jr. manages to get into a camera shot, behind someone relevant.... every.... single.... year

It's a strange thing, like he is among a type of celebrity fodder, because you don't randomly see a-listers in background shots at all, unless they are amongst a group from a film nominated. Anybody see Johnny Depp, or Leo Dicaprio this year? I didn't & that's usually what I tune in to see... Who's in the room. Matt Damon? Clint Eastwood? They were probably there (I didn't see the entrances) but they aren't the celebrated this year, & therefore aren't giving up the face time, especially not sitting behind Brad Pitt, George Clooney or bloody Jonah Hill. It's a prestige thing I guess

i wonder if every feb. 29 should be declared quantum leap day.
but that would mean it only happens once every 4 years. unless,
we declare feb. 28 to be QL day the other 3 years. *ponders*
