The boring version of Back To The Future III Instead of stupidly trying to use high proof booze to start the Delorean's engine, Doc THE SCIENTIST remembers that it runs on petroleum, which is totally different, and then spends a few days distilling some crude oil into a fine enough mixture to run the damn car. You'd only need a gallon or 2, and people in America are already doing it in 1885. They make kerosene for god sake |

In Castaway, after Tom Hanks has been rescued, they are wrapping up the celebration party, & as people are leaving, some drunk guy starts blathering on about how they need to catch up on their fishing I might've stabbed that guy with a salad fork. WTF do you think I've been doing for 4 years? Why don't YOU catch up on some fishing! I know the perfect secluded spot, you jackass |

I think one of the most powerful things about Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven is how plain & obvious the character names are The fat deputy's name is "Fatty" The thin bar owner's name is "Skinny" One of the drunken old ranchers is named "Thirsty" One of the prostitutes is named "Silky" The kid gunslinger is just called "Kid" (The Schofield Kid) And Clint's gun for hire character is named "Will Munny" as in.... he... will, for money |

Been thinking about Unforgiven lately. The whole thing begins when a cowboy assaults a prostitute with a knife & gets stopped by the bar owner who has a gun. From then on it goes south because the sheriff only fines the guilty man livestock I was thinking that if the bar owner had just plugged the cowboy's leg with a bullet, it would've been more fair. In that time, she was ruined as a woman & prostitute, & having a messed up leg for the rest of his life would've ruined him as a cowboy, or at least made it extremely difficult for him, just as it would be for her The bar owner could've claimed he was acting in defense of the girl. Then fining the cowboy & his friend some livestock would've been less of sham, & more of a legal recourse, to keep him out of prison. Nobody there would want anything worse, because they've seen equal amounts of blood & violence & probably couldn't stomach anymore |

someone may have mentioned this before, i can't recall. who would've thought that jennifer aniston would''ve become the most famous from the cast of friends? courteney cox did the scream movies & had that one series that stared on network tv & then went to pay tv/cable. lisa kudrow had a couple of series on pay tv/cable & guest spots here & there. david schwimmer hasn't done much that people would know outside the madagascar movies. matt leblanc was on a pay tv/cable series & did a couple of guest spots on other things. and matthew perry has mostly gone from failed tv series to failed tv series. |

Is it at all possible for John Travolta to NOT be over the top creepy at the Oscars? He's always made up like a bloated funeral cadaver & is constantly got the creep behavior dialed up to 11 And another thing... No honorary award this year? Given how dull everyone thought the show was, might've been worth the effort. I mean you had Julie Andrews right there on your stage. If that's not a class act deserving of overall career recognition, then I don't know what is. Speaking of Julie Andrews, maybe you could have her present it to Dick Van Dyke. That dude's like 90 this year. Running out of time to properly recognize his enormous contribution. C'mon. It seems pretty lame to skip a year given how many of that classic era are in their final years & how few of them are left at all Also ![]()

Well we didn't see the Oscars this year, so no real idea who won or why. But fully agree that Julie Andrews is a deserving case, from when she 'floated' into my life as a kid 40 or 50 years ago. My mom took me and my kid sister to the movies to see The Sound of Music, and also Mary Poppins (hence the 'floating' reference). Definitely a class act, deserving of a lifetime achievement award !! Ps, sorry dude no idea who those two are !! |

Matthew McConaughey @ the Oscars & Yosemite Sam. Not knowing the former is totally forgivable. Not knowing the latter is heresy. Who hasn't seen Looney Tunes?
