There was a time in Hollywood, when it was commonplace for either novels, or plays, to be turned into films, with some of our best acting legends. Novels, of course, do still become films, but, I wonder though at the number, as compared to the early sixties, on back in both categories. And, yes, we do have fine actors, like Kevin Spacey,as one example, who have done stage-to film material. But, I admit, I don't have the overall viewing chops to comment too much on the greater subject. I have seen my share of movies in my over five decades of life, however. I was just thinking recently, how, on Saturday nights, a network would show a film, of either a few years or many years back, and a big one, usually. It was an event in that time, for those old enough to remember, way before VCRs. I can remember watching films like ''Ben Hur,'' and what have you. It was a great time to be a kid, then, IMO. And movies were CHEAPER. :D

Live long and prosper.....!!

Yeah I remember how it used to be, and Saturday matinee's at the local 'flea pit' (cinema): an episode from a series, usually Batman, followed by a decent movie, and maybe a few cartoons. Even had a 'talent contest' at times, up on the stage singing - very badly I seem to remember - but these things helped to keep the kids coming and filling the place up !!

On the subject of reboots, if they have something new to show that wasn't addressed in the original movie then sure, but doing a reboot just for the hell of it is a total waste of talent in my mind. And jumping on a bandwagon cos it was popular - like the current crop of zombie and vampire stuff - is just as bad !!
R.I.P. Gummy, we'll miss you bro

Show Biz Trivia tidbit. On January 19th, 1987, The Chicago Tribune published this illustration, created by cartoonist Dick Locher. It's a depiction of The Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz scurrying to catch up with his friends, Dorothy, The Tin Man & The Cowardly Lion, on their way to the Emerald City. It's a memorial to Ray Bolger, who had died of cancer at the age of 83, two days prior. Bolger was the last of the four featured performers in The Wizard of Oz to pass, which is why it appears that instead of walking down a yellow brick road, they seem to be traveling over a rainbow

why do fans of something need nicknames?
it used to be just star trek fans had a name: trekkies.
now the fans of every actor, singer, band, movie & tv series has to have some sort of semi-cute nickname.

Dumbest song in the long history of dumb songs

Like a rainbow... in the dark? So, nonexistent? because without light there can be no rainbow. A rainbow IS light. You might as well be saying like a desert in the ocean

you know, not trying to be rude or anything but I did not realize Zsa Zsa Gabor was still around. Eva died in 1995 I think. Zsa Zsa is 97 now.

and I never realized Kirk Douglas who turns 98 in December was Michael Douglas's father!

I get that, AWOL.And, not only that; seems everything has to have some kind of label for it-like 'selfie'. What, people too lazy to DESCRIBE something these days at all???

^ or either just too stupid to know, or too narcissistic to use the word we already have. It's called a portrait, or if you absolutely must (literally) be more self-centered, a self-portrait, or is that too many syllables for your monosyllabic ass?
