He's incredibly well spoken, & just the slightest hint of islander in his accent (Raised in The Bahamas) It gives his voice a sweet warmth

Matthew McConaughey just started a tv show called True Detective, with Woody Harrelson. I can't see him continuing that with a fresh Oscar under his belt

I don't know. It will keep him close to home and him and Woody Harrelson are good friends. The show looks good and tv shows get a lot of attention these days.

I'm afraid I count myself lucky to keep up with st in my head, much less the broader entertainment arena, and hey, that's just moi. And, I don't have the same memory chops as when I was 25.

Live long and prosper.....!!

Not sure, but didn't Woody Harelson win an Oscar at some point too ?? Just thinking that having one Oscar winner on the show is good, but two would be just wow !!

Been nominated for both actor Oscars once, but never won. The only notable award he's ever gotten is an Emmy for Cheers

I learned last weekend, that the Oscar statue is based upon a Hispanic director, who had work recognized back in the 1940's.

How the heck, in 10 years, have they done so very little with The Incredibles? That premise was a goldmine, even more potentially lucrative than Toy Story. Film franchise? Tv series? We've seen nothing in a decade but a video game, a dozen or so comics & probably a few toys

I think there's a sequel coming but geez, wait long enough?

Yeah true, they've not really exploited all of the possibilities that The Incredibles offered. As you say, a potential goldmine. Sad, but true !!

Am I the only one tired of remakes or reboots? While I love the trek ones, is there really a need for all the new ones? Any original thoughts left in Hollywood?

There can be only one

We need the book first. Sadly I feel the same. There is very little original thought left in Hollywood and it seems as though Pixar is one of the few where there is any real imagination flowing. I for one would like to see Hollywood stop going the route of assuming that the audience is stupid, or do something other than what would REALLY happen just for sake of dramatic or visual effect.
The unambiguous and defined essence of a truest friend, is a single soul, shared in two bodies. A person who completes you so, that it pains you when they hurt, and sustains you when they are with you, no matter how far.

Believe me, I'm the last person to say. "Hey, why don't they make more sequels of this movie?" So when I come out to say that, it's almost a singular situation. The Incredibles is built for more production & in this one situation, it's actually going to be welcome. & yes, it's because Pixar has had a good history of wonderful creativity

Some novels-or, in the case of A.C. Clarke's ''The Sentinel,'' a short story, lead to one of the most famous sf films of all time-whether one vision matches the other overmuch. Sometimes, it doesn't go well, as with David Lynch's ''Dune,'' but, no reason why other good literature can't be translated. I imagine there are many writers, who hesitiate at the idea of allowing their original vison to hit the screen, as it so easily runs afield, you know? It's the Hollywood thing, right, of dumbing down a concept. Now, the original screenplay, a la tv, for ST was thought to be too cerebral. In retrospect, it would be a classic that spawned a classic. I remember seeing a bit of ''The Martian Chronicles'' in miniseries form, waaaay back in 1980; couldn't comment on it, but, I wonder if it came anywhere close to the original?

A thought; look at PBS. Who does classic lit and more 'highbrow' shows, than they do, and well, like ''Masterpiece Theatre''. Perhaps they could teach Americans a few things, no, in terms of qualifiying up the material?...

That's why, say what you will about Stephen King, the guy's stuff adapts well to film. It's just how he writes that makes it amenable to it, even when some of it gets cut for brevity's sake
