Come to think of it... How come we never get to see Biff's son/Griff's dad? He has to be around Marty's age. What's his name... Cliff? |

re-watched ferris bueller's days off not long ago. first off; what kind of name is ferris? second; i bet cameron's dad kicked him out of the house after the events in the movie. he was probably going to have him arrested for taking the car, but thought the scandal would be too much. ferris's parents felt sorry for cameron & let him live in the den until he went to college. his mother gave him money to live off of, because she hated that car too. he was probably going to college on a scholarship because it didn't look like his parents (most likely his dad) paid for his POS car, so it's unlikely they (or he) paid for school. third; ferris's sister jeanie probably lightened up a little after ferris went to college, but still gets annoyed when their parents praise him. |

In fact, it seems like the smarter thing to do would have been to use "Cliff" Tannen as the guy who races Marty & gets him fired, instead of Needles. If they had dressed up the actor like an 80's punk, the way they did Needles, it would have been enough to differentiate him between Griff, Biff & Buford Of course... who really cares, I guess? |

just re-watched mulan & my brother pointed out something i never thought of before; it probably has the highest body-count of any disney animated movie. there's the guards on the great wall, one of the imperial scouts, the imperial army, at least one village, the huns & the big bad guy. |

Exactly when will Tommy Lee Jones get his lifetime achievement award at the Oscars? I suppose he's only 68 right now, but they really need to start thinking about it. He looks so old & you never know. The guy really deserves to have his vast career celebrated |

Having never had a name that is common, I sometimes have odd realizations of how frequent it must be for people to have the same name as someone famous Like there must be tons of Elizabeth Taylors out there & Jack Nicholsons, or Paul Newmans. Tom or James Jones is so damn common that Tommy Lee & James Earl had to add another name in there |

I haven't seen him yet, but As much as I like Conan, I had a strong feeling that Fallon would work out better. He's likable in a more common kind of way |

Here is a minor but maybe curious thought: If you are a hero in a NuTrek movie, DON'T depend on a phaser to save your hide. ST: Kirk is on the platform, the Romulan knocks the gun out of his hand, it falls over the edge. ST: Kirk HAS his phaser, but, Ayel jumps him, and, yes, said phaser goes over the edge of the deck.He DOES get Ayel's gun, and takes him out. Lucky break. ST:ID: Khan shoots Spock's phaser rifle out of his hands-after he's disarmed, and wiped out five Klingon assault parties. And without a breaking of sweat. Klingons with pistols/disruptors/bat'leths. All the same! ST:ID: Khan KICKS Spock's phaser pistol out of his hands when he leaps aboard the automated garbage transport, down to the city below it goes. I suppose you could add, Scotty is taken out by Khan, after his single shot-unknowingly-fails to render, as we saw with Uhura near the end, that one stun blast does NOT a stun victim make. Then again, where's the fun and the rest of the picture?? Can't wait to see how many phasers go over a cliff, platform, or get disintegrated, lost, or left on a prewarp planet, next movie, if there is one. |

Phaser fights are just a plot device, if they really wanted to take 'em out they'd zap 'em from space !! |

Rober Smigel, who did the voice of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, and all manner of world leaders, and celebs, was IMO one of the best parts of Conan's show. I wonder if he's still thusly affiliated. What a talent! I do like Jimmy, I will say-not that I've seen any of these guys in ages. I heard the local Modern Rock station morning duo at WEND Charlotte talking about Fallon's initial foray as TS host. Jimmy recounted how he would beg his parents to let him stay up for the monologue. I never was into that-preferred SW and comics and Classic BSG, but, and, as the hosts were comparing even Jimmy's childhood, and how the entertainment culture and media has changed. Old-timers like me, yeah, we didn't even have VCRs. We audiotaped our shows, and imagined the actors doing their stuff. I'm doggone proud, to be part of what was to me a classic period in tv, and such. We may have had Vietnam, rampant prejudice, and Watergate....but, when you were just a kid back then, the world seemed a lot simpler...... And, now back to 'Wissa's Sci-fI Roundup', sponsored by Life cereal. Even Mikey loves Wissa's SFR!''.....

![]() I just feel when I watch Jimmy that the celebrities actually have fun on his show. I don't get that impression with many other late night hosts. Certainly not with Jay Leno or David Letterman. I think that is something that has been missing since Johnny left. No one will ever have the power that Johnny did but I don't think he would today either. The landscape is stretched too far for anyone to have the same impact. btw, Mr. Boo and I watched Johnny's last show on our first date. |

I suspect it's more than that they're having fun on the show. They like him better. Jimmy Fallon is not all that great of a comedian really. (His best gags are always musical) His entire success is based on the fact that probably everyone who ever met him loves that guy. They look like they're having fun, because they are spending time with someone they truly like. How the hell else would he get them to do all that stupid stuff he pulled on his old show? That's why it'll work better than Conan, & MUCH better than Leno. Johnny had the same niche. People loved him. He was a genuinely great person to be around, & it showed immensely on the show. If they can have even a 10th of that with Fallon, it'll work |

In City Slickers, Noble Willingham plays Clay Stone, the Cattle driver who ran the dude ranch. At the end he sells off the cattle, & closes it down. In the sequel, he is running an old west themed treasure hunt based off of Curly's map. He makes the claim that it is more fun than the cattle drive ever was I can't buy that. A campy treasure hunt with some fake gold at the end can't be nearly as engaging & rewarding as participating in a real cattle drive. Learning how to herd cattle on horseback & rope a steer, possibly being on hand for the birth of a calf like happened in the movie. Geez, how could some cheesy treasure hunt mockup be anywhere near as cool? |

maybe if you grew up on a cattle ranch herding cattle would seem really boring to you. Especially if you always wanted to hunt for treasure. |

Fake treasure? It's not like he ever went on the cattle drives anyhow. Maybe THAT'S why he found it less exciting. He should have gotten off his fat butt & gone on a drive. He has lost touch with his cowboy roots!
