I think from a music standpoint lady gaga is more talented than madonna
:yeahthat: im with the boobiefull one on this. Gaga's vocal talents are way beyond Madonna's. And I am a Madonna fan. Yes, she does have shock value and its strong but it does not over take her voice. I've heard her on the radio and liked her songs and then found out later it was Lady Gaga. My cousin teases me bout this. She says welcome to 2011, your only 2 years late. And Gaga is beautiful when she is not wearing meat or a chicken coop on her head.

I would never have guessed that was her.

Moving back to the comments made by my Greek god, Lady Gaga reinvents her look every time you see her. Madonna had only 1 look initially. Slut. But it worked for her and she had fun with it so more power to her. Her evolution was a necessity in order to remain relevant.

Gaga has no need for that currently as her music and person are still relevant. When the time comes to adapt I have no doubt she will do just fine. Aside from her and maybe Adele, I agree that none of who you hear today will be around in 5 years. The ones with any ounce of talent will probably take a stab at acting, porn or politics. Those with no talent will end up as judges on American Idol.

Marty McFly: A block past Maple? That's, uh, that's John F. Kennedy Drive.

Sam Baines: Who the hell is John F. Kennedy?

It's 1955. He's a senator in Massachusetts. At that point, he's probably the most famous member of his family, short of his father Joe.

Though that may be a prerequisite for knowing about our government these days, I'd hope that wasn't always the sad reality

i was thinking they had radio & news papers.
it was probably mostly local & state stuff, but occasionally there
must've been national news. and like most people back then, they
went to the house of any friends who had a TV at the time to see what
the big deal was about.

Live long and prosper.....!!

I vaguely remember those days, and yeah owning a tv was a big deal. The grainy black and white images of the day, the space race and the first moon shot, the Kennedy assassination was just a simple message on a black screen, that President Kennedy was dead. Scheduled programming wasn't up to much, mostly somebody in a studio doing something or other, and tv guides hadn't been invented yet !!

random star wars (original series) thoughts:

my brother & i rewatched these this week & were discussing the power-play between vader & the emperor over luke. since there can only be two sith at the same time, a master & an apprentice (although we didn't know that until episode one), either vader or the emperor had to die. which would be "the final push" to take luke to the dark side. both knew this, vader at times seemed to know he could be on his way out.

but then again, if you don't believe anything in the prequels is official, then he was just concerned about his son going to the dark side.

One cannot concern themselves too much with temporal mechanics or the logic of the McFly family tree, when watching Back To The Future 2 & 3

For example, WTF is the reason why George McFly married a woman who looks just like his paternal grandmother? or why doesn't Doc in the old west know why Marty is there, when he himself sent Marty there in 1955? :dizzy:

there's a couple of theories;

1. he married a distant relations of here's

2. some of the mcfly men are attracted to that "type".

That type & exactly like are worlds apart. So I have to go with #1 inbreeding. The production reason is obvious. Leah Thompson had no other reason to be in part 3, and since they'd produced both 2 & 3 at the same time, they were somehow obligated to employ her, even though they had no issue using Mary Steenburgen only in part 3 & poor Elizabeth Shue is only in like 5 minutes of part 3, after having played a larger role in part two.

Of course, the biggest temporal oddity is how Marty McFly is able to go to 2015 & see his older self & the life he led in those 30 years, that he himself left & skipped over, by leaving 1985 in a bloody time machine. Even Rod Taylor's campy 1960 movie The Time Machine got that part right

That's probably just because she's dumb & messes up the timeline, which if you believe that Bruce Willis movie Looper, gives you a headache, when your brain has to catch up.

Thought of a couple more

During 1955, Marty photographs a tombstone with Doc's name on it, which he brings to 1885. As history alters, Doc's name is removed from it, & later, Clint Eastwood's name appears there. However, at a point in between, the picture is shown with no name on it at all. Are we to believe a blank tombstone has sat for 70 years with either an empty grave or a mystery occupant?

Also, what did Doc do with the gas that HE had in the Delorean, when he came to 1885, several months earlier? One has to assume that if he'd spent time trying to fix the Delorean, he still had fuel to power it. If they needed fuel for Marty's Delorean, all they needed to do was syphon it from the Delorean that's stored in the mine. It's not like that fuel was going to be any good for Marty in 1955 anyway. I suppose we could say Doc dumped it all when he decided to store it in the mine, but why would you waste it all? They really only needed a gallon or 2, & they never mention where Doc's gas went
