i saw a clip on yourube that said, basicaly, that asperger's is still around in the future. it was a clip of 7 at some party on voyager and janeway was explaining how to mingle. i thinks seven was just socially awkward. the borg don't teach party etiquette or other social niceities. BTW asperger's is, according to wikipedia;

She was raised by Borg, socially awkward. Had she grown up normal like other children, assimilated as an adult, disconnected from the hive mind, she might have again back social interaction as part of regaining her humanity. Thinking about it, even as a kid, she may have not been around other children that much. Seeing in "Dark Frontier" she was an only child and only had her parents to interact with during her short childhood. Her social development was stunted. Had she remembered being in Unimatrix Zero after being disconnected from the hive mind, she could of carried over something during the time spent there. That is had she remembered being there before going back there to take it down. ("Unimatrix Zero") |

I think she was beyond socially akward. I don't know if a child who suffered that kind of trauma would ever be able to relate normally to other people. |

Actually, while her behaviours would mimic those of aspergers syndrome, which is a pervasive development disorder, her behaviour is more likely because of her development being interupted. Therefore she would likely have either a reactive attachment disorder and/or post traumatic stress disorder both of which would have aspergarian type traits. |

I think it was the fact that during her developmental years, she was a borg. She was with her parents a lot too before that happened so we don't know her social skills. The doctor was helping her a lot. And I think he was making great progress |

Stunted emotional & social growth, due to social deprivation. She spent more time not being human than being one. |

As reed said the doc was helping her, and her holodeck progs relating to social gatherings (party's etc) suggest she's trying to learn how to interract with people. So no I don't think it was aspergers, just a case of arrested development making her socially awkward !! |

It would have been interesting if they had explored that in a different way. Perhaps speeding up the development of her character that way. And not rush it at the end by having her in a silly relationship with Chakotay. Hmmm maybe an idea for a mini series? |

Ok, but remember we're talking Trek here - one week she's totally Borg, with implants and skin pigments, bald etc. The next time we see her she's a pink skin human - complete with long blonde hair - and with a just a couple of implants to help keep her alive. Where were the eps that showed her transition ?? It's like Chakotay's becoming part of the crew. At the start he's a Maquis with his own ship and crew, next ep his ship is destroyed and he's taking his place as Janeway's second-in-command - just like that ?? As have said before, logic doesn't play a large part in Trek (not even with Vulcans). We're just supposed to accept the eps as they're presented, and ignore the questions !! |
