It's obvious that most people have music that comforts them, but I think all art has that potential, even TV & movies

Are there any TV shows or movies that you put on, that's comforting to you?

I find Star Trek has some value in that way. I grew up on 11 seasons of M*A*S*H myself, & there's certain episodes or aspects of that show which have a comforting effect

Actually, there's probably a direct correlation between a show's longevity & it's comforting factor. For instance Friends lasted 10 seasons, & Cheers, Frasier & Happy Days went 11, & I think people were likely very comforted by those shows, also explaining why they did so well in reruns too

Of course, the king of comfort drama has to be E.R. with 15 seasons

& I haven't even begun thinking about movies or movie franchises

I find tng and tos comforting. Probably because I watched them when I was younger.

I think that is the key to anything comforting. The closer to childhood you watched it the more emotionally connected you are to it.

I do suppose that is true, but I don't think it is necessarily required

My comfort shows are Married With Children, magnum PI and Robotech. I can watch them over and over again and use them as background noise while doing housework.

My Popu and I used to watch M*A*S*H while munching on frozen Milkyway minis when I was younger. My wife loves it and it's always something we can turn and be happy with.

TNG, no so much anymore. I've been watching on Netflix and I get irritated these days with the show. The idea of TNG is comforting, though.

Psych is a show that makes me feel happy inside. It's one that we as a family can all sit down to and enjoy.

Transformers: Energon. I remember my little boy jumping on the couch "Boobah TROOOON!" We still watch it and it takes me back a few years.

Live long and prosper.....!!

Voyager. Any season, any episode, I'm happy. (yes, even Threshold, the first part of the ep isn't so bad, and I can f/f through the rest).

The Lord of the Rings movies. Though it must be said, I usually prefer the Appendices to the actual movies, much more interesting.

A few others; Armageddon, The Day After Tomorrow, Alien, the Matrix movies. I also like Ocean's 11/12/13, very entertaining (though 13 was the best of them).
R.I.P. Gummy, we'll miss you bro
