It's one of my favorite Voyager episode. It's the one where Seven downloads loads of information from the database into her newly enhanced alcove. Meanwhile, the crew comes across someone named Tash. He had constructed a catapult that can fling a vessel across light years in a manner of hours. All the information being downloaded causes Seven to malfunction and come to conjecture over Voyager's purpose in the Delta Quadrant. Some of the information is fucked up and pitches Janeway against Chakotay. Long story short, The Doctor finds out of Seven's malfunction, They resolve the issue and then utilize the catapult to take 3 years off their journey.

To me, I can't believe that Janeway and Chakotay allowed themselves to behave the way they did after 5 years of traveling together. While Seven is explaining her theories, they just listen and take it for fact, like they weren't there. It's obvious that some of the information was wrong: Like the Commander Seska part. What I enjoyed about the episode was all the theories that Seven came up with and the Space catapult.

Also, the puzzle piece of that tractor beam on the Caretaker's array. It seemed to me that it was a puzzle piece that falls into a box that belongs to another puzzle.

Live long and prosper.....!!

Yes, I like this one too. It's a good example of a little knowledge being a dangerous thing, especially when it's interpreted wrongly.

Then again, why WAS Voyager carrying tri-cobalt torpedoes, when it became trapped in the Delta Quadrant ?? And that tractor beam at the Caretaker's array, was never fully explained. Ok, maybe it does fit another puzzle, but it was still there at the array at the time when the array was destroyed.
R.I.P. Gummy, we'll miss you bro

it did seem odd that janeway & chakotay would
react like that. i guess, somewhere deep down, they
are still on starfleet vs. maquis mode

That Janeway beamed aboard the shuttle craft to talk to Seven, raises other questions.
Did she do it to be a 'mother hen' and bring Seven out of her 'confusion', and back into line?
Or just to save the loss of a shuttle craft?

I say both. The Delta Flyer was a valuable piece of equipment and Seven is a valued member of her crew. It evident that she treats Seven like a daughter or a much much younger sister.

Randomer than you since 1992

One of my favourite episodes ever.

I loved how Seven's theories seemed plausible, but were of course, ultimately wrong.

I just had the thought that both theories probably really happened in some alternate reality... :mojo: That's an interesting thought.

As for Janeway and Chakotay's mistrust of each other, I liked the complexity. It showed they are flawed characters, who, despite all the years working together still ended up letting something get between them. But I also think that considering and exploring possibilities like that is part of being a starfleet captain/first officer. Imagine if it had been true, and they'd just ignored the evidence?
