That is my favorite part of that movie.
Someone on the youtube page describes it as the only warmth or tenderness in an otherwise Hell

Live long and prosper.....!!

No, that's not the piece I'm thinking of, but thanks anyway. The piece I'm thinking of (and which I can 'hear' in my mind), is playing while he's training and sparring, preparing for the next fight. Sadly, I don't know musical notation, or I'd post it !! :/

Never saw the point in Tiesto's version of Adagio for Strings when William Orbit already did it, and with huge success, not too long ago. And in my opinion, better too. But that's Tiesto really.... i find his stuff more aimed at the younger market, to those that are just starting out in dance and electronica.

Oh and Mojo, look at Moby! New York's finest. All 'round musical genius, intellectual, and classically trained to boot!

What do you consider "just starting" and "younger"?

To each their own I guess. I like both versions, but find Tiesto's more like something I can dance to. Orbit's is more 'New Agey' to me. Music I sit and listen to.

Didn't mean anything bad by it, just that his fans tend to be younger in nature, like 15-25, and most of the people who bought his version of Adagio did so not knowing or rembering that Orbit already did it a few years earlier! Just like what happens in pop music really, when groups cover songs that aren't really that old, but the latest generation of pop music buyers don't realise are straight covers, as they seem fresh and new to them... know what i mean?

Actually, speaking of Orbit, modern electronica and comparrisons with classical music, his version of Adagio For Strings was released on his album Pieces In A Modern Style, a collection of classical pieces by the famous composers of yesteryear, all performed and arranged with a modern electronic twist.

Anychance you like Paul Van Dyk, Ali? :)

OH! I had a 50/50 shot, & that's the other one

It's the intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana, also by Pietro Mascagni, used during the opening credits, of the film

Both incredible pieces of music

Personally, I don't feel like this classical piece lends itself very well to electronica remixing in either case. It's a long, slowly developing theme, that's passion gets diluted when overlaying the rhythm tracks

I would imagine that the music of composers like Vivaldi, Bach & Mozart would lend themselves more cohesively to this kind of marriage.

The original version is really beautiful, and even though I'm not really into techno music, that version was pretty cool too.

That's fine. I was just curious as to what your thinking.

And that's a good explanation. I see what you're saying.

Yes, I like Paul Van Dyke lots.

Well fuck.

The tickets went on sale yesterday. By the time I got to them there were none left for under $150 or per ticket. Tiesto is good but not THAT good.

He has a show in Vancouver a few days before, same deal.
