Even though I haven't read it, I've heard that the comic does have them head north into Virginia, to a safe zone there... at some point. Hell, maybe it could even be people who aren't the scum of humanity. for change. lol

My primary interest is in getting everybody back on the same page. I'm tired of the inexplicable separations now. Season 1 never had a problem writing for the whole group in a collective

This. Let's just get everybody back together. There are only so many episodes in a season, I don't like the disjointed - halting feel when they stop the shows progress to take us into another story line.

That said, still one of my favorite shows on TV.

Is anybody else getting a rather uncomfortable feeling about the fact that this show probably didn't realize it when they made this season, but it's essentially about a maniacal police state rooted in bias, superiority complexes & brutality, and right now in Ferguson there's a real life drama playing out that has all of those things too?

I know the dude who posted above me has probably thought about it

There's also a problem with dragging out stuff once in a while. This episode, while interesting character development of some fan faves, didn't further the plot of any of the last 3 episodes at all. We've been at an almost time freeze since Terminus & going to the church

There's some character believability issues as well. People who should know better being duped buy professor mullet, & Maggie seemingly unconcerned at all about her sister, who she knows pretty well about, etc... This show needs to lay off the selective amnesia a bit

I keep watching, & I probably wouldn't complain if it was a total loss. You only complain when you care. I think they could be doing better this season though

btw, anyone know where I can score one of those crossbows Daryl uses? You know, the ones that anyone can just pickup and figure out on the fly, and yet still be a crack shot, like Noah nabbing that walker in the throat after having it 10 minutes? :p

Hoping they do something interesting once they are all reunited at the hospital and now that they are in a big city.

Yeah... They'll leave it... again. They've already done one interesting thing. They glanced past Rick's tank from episode 1, in a quickie shot. In fact, Daryl & Carol rode in on the same highway that Rick trotted in on. We're back at square one in some ways. Talk about spinning your wheels & going nowhere.... painstakingly slowly

It really just sinks in that awful feeling I get, that they should be long out of that area by now. Clearly, they're going to D.C now, despite Eugene fessing up. Ending up in Atlanta will cause them to realize they need to move on... finally. It'll be some general feeling they all have that getting to the capital is going to reveal some wisdom or salvation, but my opinion is that people who've watched the CDC get destroyed should know better than to think like that. They need to get as far away from a place like D.C. as humanly possible

Or they could believe the only way to find their other group members is to go to D.C. now, which is kind of lame. We split the group up for a nonsense reason, & now we'll once again have everyone trying to find each other. I believe the comic has another safe zone up that way where they end up for a bit.

Interesting thing I learned about the comic, which I've never read. None of them ever go to the CDC. That's just on the show, & I think it's something that is rather important, though I seem to be alone in that opinion. If the CDC falls, then you have to accept that the government has fallen. Nothing is left of the United States, because if the nation is succumbing to a disease based extinction, then the last place they'd ever let go offline is the place built to solve such a problem

found the references to burning kinda interesting in the last episode. Every place but the campsite has been burning when they left it. And Carol was talking about her old selves burning away.

You know what really was the dead giveaway on the Walking Dead, that Eugene's story was so obviously bogus. No one, including himself, ever refers to him as anything but "Scientist". Not geneticist or biologist or virologist or immunologist. Just scientist. Nobody is just a scientist anymore. It's analogous to a calling a government official just a "Politician", instead of a governor or a senator, or councilman etc... The term clergyman is the same way

Oh, he's a scientist, is he? Well..... That's specific. Let's drop everything & follow him wherever. He knows science stuff.

yeah it was all sci fi babble. I expected him to say they had to reverse the polarity on something. But they were all desperate people grasping at a straw that held hope of restoring the world they lost

So is Eugene dead or just knocked out? He kept saying he was in fact really smart. I keep hoping they do something with that and the hospital so it wasn't all just a waste of time.

Yeah, I don't understand it at all.

What is the one thing they need to get away from? People. Dead and alive. What would you do if you had to get away from humans. Move to locations where there are less humans. For me, that's the west. Ida been heading that way the entire time. Walking ovals in the greater Atlanta suburbs is pure folly. Going to DC is insane. Even if there is some secret 'ark' in DC you're going to have three problems getting there:

1. Knowing where to go.
2. All the walking corpses you'd have to wade through to find and then get to said location.
3. All the living bodies that will (at best) turn you away, or (at worst) murder or enslave you.

Nope, I'm going to eastern WA - Idaho - Montana - BC - Saskatchewan - Alberta region.

Yup, although, traversing the whole of the U.S. diagonally is quite a trek. Me personally, I'd still opt for making it to the eastern coast, which they're not far from. You do your damnedest to get your hands on a sailing vessel & GTFO of mainland troubles. If you can find a coastal island that looks safe to live on, great, if it's not that easy, then you can ride the coasts until you find something livable on one of the western continents. We could even make are way around the continent up into the area you're talking about, via the panama canal or even down around S. America. I'd feel much safer taking the longer sailing trip, coast hugging, than trying to forge through the entire landscape. In fact, I'm pretty sure the sail away idea has been used in some zombie stuff before. Isn't that what they do in the Ving Rhames Dawn of The Dead remake?

What everyone left in America is doing seems completely at odds with human instincts. When disease spreads, or violence rages and civilization falls, people GTFO. That's what we do. We do it so damn much that we have a word for the people who do it... Refugees

I've heard the name Alexandria thrown around. I guess it's another gated community that they end up at, somewhere in VA... outside of D.C. So they're headed that way, despite it being kind of asinine.

Sad, & emotional... but lame. Beth didn't have to die here. Where'd all the badassery go? Dawn tries to pull a lame duck power play?

"Well lady. When WE found Noah, he wasn't anyone's ward *chuckle*. He had LEFT your group & was out their on his own, and now he's been acting as one of our group. In my book that MAKES him part of our group. Do you really want to go bullet for bullet over some kid who left you & will probably do it again? & do these cops here, who don't even respect you anymore want to back you up on that? I doubt it. So here's what is. ANYBODY who is on THIS side of the room is backing the hell out of this shithole right now, & if bullets start flying, then it's gonna get sticky in here mighty quick & I goddamned guarantee that shit sticks to you first... Dawn, & if that doesn't sit well with you, just be glad I didn't come in here & slit all your throats while you slept, like I'd wanted to"

That's what you say in that situation

Completely agree! It was stupid and uncalled for. I really think that character had a lot more in her.

It was totally lame. I'm not even able to accept that after all this time, Beth would be so shitty at stabbing someone. That's ALL THEY DO on the Walking Dead is stab. She barely jabbed her just below the clavicle. What shit. That & it didn't make much sense either

Gotta wonder if the whole point is to make our group go even darker.

Rick's already there. He hasn't gone public with it completely yet, which is why that handcuffed cop was really having an unlucky day, because Rick might have shown more restraint if the others were around. But alone? "I'll just run that asshole down with my car & bust a cap in his crown, if he don't stop right where I tell him"

Carol's gone pretty dark too. Executing a mentally unstable little girl is hardcore. I think that had the opposite effect on Tyrese. That ugliness robbed him of some of his grit. I think Abraham has always been a gritty bastard, & it's bound to stay that way.

I think this little event with Beth was done specifically to harden Daryl, ever since they had their own episode together after the prison. It seems like there's characters they want to show getting hard, & they do it by having characters who are just canon fodder, like Bob was to Sasha. They used Hershel that way for Rick (& Even kind of with Lori before that) & they used Beth that way for Daryl. They need to not make a habit of it. There's got to be another way besides beating that horse into the ground. Who's next? Maggie or Rosita? So Glenn or Abraham can spend some time in the cold box next? That'll get old

I still feel like there was no logic in having Dawn bully them with a demand. We began this season with them as the "screwing with the wrong people" gang. Where'd that resolve go when she opened he blubbering hot mess of a mouth. It was clear Dawn was just trying to save face with that demand about Noah. They needed to dump it right beck in her face

Edit: And another thing. Exactly how does Dawn have her pistol out of its hip holster to "Accidentally" fire into Beth's head in close quarters anyway? Beth stepped up to her, paused a second, & said "I get it now", then stabbed. The camera shot just before that Dawn's pistol is holstered

Nobody see's her grab it out, while Beth is talking or stabbing?

I agree that Beth's death was to harden Daryl. He's the one keeping Rick in check right now and most have already gone dark. Carol was one of the first.

they need a new scenario. They don't seem to have any surprises yet other than the order of deaths
