There's also an ongoing consideration of the pros & cons of being amongst other people vs. going it alone. infectiousness of a common variety is yet another reason to be against being around people in a broken down survival situation. People: You can't live with 'em & you can't live without 'em Ultimately, there was every reason to suggest that the contamination was too far along to properly contain. What Carol did didn't solve anything, & was never going to. A smart person would have known that. All it did was say "Hey! I'll destroy you if I think you pose any danger of threat to anyone I don't want threatened" Newsflash! Though they may have been deluding themselves for several months, they have always been in danger of threats. If you plan to arbitrarily kill within your group, every time that happens, you might as well split now |

Sure we can look at it and say they were past the point where the contamination could be contained, but we are applying a level of reason to a show about zombies. It hasn't exactly been strong on reality so far and I think it's unfair to expect it to be now. I think thematically Carol's actions are a continuation of that conversation started between Shane and Rick in the woods when they were looking for Sofia and debating if doing so was putting the rest of the group at risk. |

I don't think reason is the same as realism. I think it's supposed to be clear that anyone still qualifying themselves as human has to have some codes, & sacrificing anyone with a sniffle & cough because they lack proper medical amenities is bordering on inhuman or rather inhumane. Like I said, maybe that's a valid way to survive, & you're right that the show does have an ongoing theme about it, but ultimately, it's no way to survive with others If everyone knew she had done that, no one would ever trust her again, assuming they didn't just oust her or kill her, which Tyrese is damn likely to do if he ever found out |

Well, that don't surprise me. It certainly ain't his thing, where zombies is concerned. It reminds me of when Shaun of The Dead came out. He welcomed it honorarily into the "Dead" franchise family, & I always assumed because of the satire aspect. This confirms that And he's not wrong. It is a soap opera. Hell, Star Trek is a soap opera with spaceships & aliens. That doesn't mean it can't be a valid form of artistic expression. Case in point, "Breaking Bad". It's just that it's not his bag. So much so that he probably doesn't care for it, & frankly, I'm not a huge fan of his zombie films either, the original "Night of The Living Dead" being the exception Apples & oranges really. I don't even think Romero would know what to do with an episode of this as its director. This show is something new for the zombie genre, which is what makes it intriguing. It has its ups & downs, because hey, they're still feeling out what the thing is, but all in all we got new turf to tread & just like there came a time for Roddenberry to be departed from, so too is the case with Romero. It's no reflection on him & his legacy, nor is it a damning of this new entity imo My personal feeling is that we ought to be embracing more of the horror aspect, than just the apocalypse drama, which other shows have already done & are doing. The problem is that zombies be expensive, & blood & guts is not the center focal point of horror anyhow. I'm still hopeful that I can be entertained though, even though I've seen some folks losing interest a bit They need to perfect the recipe more, because this show, whether you think it's doing well or not, has the most potential to be as legendary as Star Trek is, of any show since. I could see this show lasting decades in varied incarnations & such, just like Trek. The premise is that vast & groundbreaking. The execution & production still needs fine tuning though |

You know what cemented it for me, that Walking Dead could be the next Star Trek? Marilyn Manson was on Talking Dead last week... There. That guy is the patron saint of the freak geek culture. Walking Dead could be their Star Trek. There's way more of those Freak/goth geeks than there are sci-fi geeks. This could be their mothership I'm not saying it will, but it could. Lots of shit could derail it, & probably will, but the key to Star Trek being what it was is that there was the hardcore folks & then there was mass appeal. Walking Dead has all that too & an equally expansive premise |

It would be like asking Roddenberry to write an episode of DS9 in it's 4th or 5th season. Looking at it like that makes it seem as ridiculous as it should. They almost have nothing in common at that point, & so too is Walking Dead in relation to the zombie granddad, Romero |

And I think it's really sour grapes on his part. Walking Dead is probably pulling in way more money than his b movies ever did. |

Maybe, but I don't tend to think that way. Maybe he just doesn't care for it. He's not alone. He's entitled to his opinion & the right to express it |

So... ^ That's pretty much how Rick ended up thinking about it. So in a way I kind of saw that coming, although it still kind of took me off guard. It wasn't a bad episode. It kept me interested Skin eaters I think we'll have this be an ongoing gag for many episodes to come, but never zombies, ghouls, or undead. What names have we heard besides Walkers? The Gov. called them biters. Daryl & Merle called them geeks. What else? Didn't someone this season call them de-cays? ![]() What are some they haven't used yet? We may get to follow Her this season like Andrea last season, & there may be a reunification, & I suspect it will be unpleasant when Rick has to announce it. Daryl is already in an unhappy place right now with his travelling buddies |

I hope she's not gone. and really, I think it's possible that no one will even ask what happened to her. Two went on a run, one came back, they will all just draw their own conclusions. |

Naw... Glen, Daryl, & Hershel will want to know, & it would be unwise of him to carry on as if she had died when she hadn't & there's likelihood that she could bump into them in the future. That would look really bad He needs to come clean, & if people judge him poorly for it, then they can go find her &/or exile him instead for ditching her or something, but in the end, she's out, & that's that. It was hard & unpleasant, but far many more people will appreciate it than object, & there's a strong chance they won't have time to beef about it anyway, given the impending doom coming down the pipe Shit hits fan next week & won't be any time to worry about her. I'm sure this is not the last we see of her. We may even follow her story, for all I know |

Good lord, people get too wrapped up in defending or condemning points of view over at TrekBBS sometimes. Now it's camp Rick vs Camp Carol It's really rare for anyone to come after my statements though. I'm going to assume it's because I'm always right... Yeah... That must be it

I rarely get replied to over there. I don't think it's because I'm always right lol I like the theory that Rick protected her by throwing her out. Somehow softens the blow for me a bit |
