so it just occured to me, in world war z Brad Pitt gets zombie juice all up in his mouth and he freaks out for a minute thinking he's going to get infected.

In 28 Days Later, Brendan Gleeson gets one drop of zombie blood in his eye & it turns him

That's why I don't obsess about it too much. Every flick has a different take on it, & Walking Dead leans toward the very loose interpretation, where it seemingly spreads only via a zombie bite, alone. I mean Michonne smashes her head through a glass aquarium packed with zombie heads. People have zombie drool & gore spew all over their fresh wounds, & nothing. It's zombies, so what can you say, really?

However, I'd like for them to just find a way to admit that it's only the bite that causes infection, because people have been caught up with it for a long while now, & it's not likely to change. Face it. If the show had to treat zombies to a realistic contamination standard, there'd never be any good action

I thought I saw a walker with a weapon in his hand during the car scene
Just sat through the original Night of the Living Dead (1968) for the 1st time in ages. Some of the zombies in that movie use crude weapons like clubs & rocks. One even grabs a trowel or something bladelike. So it's not out of the realm of possibility for the genre, considering that almost everything that is accepted as zombie lore in our culture spawns from that one movie, which is pretty incredible, when you think about it

This makes me wonder.... Does anyone consider the Frankenstein monster a zombie? I suppose he fits the category of reanimated dead, but not in so much as the result of a plague, which is the modern conceptualization :mojo:

hmm. I guess he could. Although he was alive where the modern zombie is dead

Live long and prosper.....!!

He's alive, but he has been given the brain of a murderer, which accounts for the killing spree. And the movies I've seen of him, he's not easy to kill for some reason (never fully explored), even with a couple dozen bullets in him !!

right, I think that's the departure, before Night of The Living Dead, a zombie was considered anything that returned to life from death, whether it was specifically alive or not, whereas now we consider them something undead, a moving corpse

What about horror movie mummies? They seem more like modern zombies than even Frankenstein

yeah, I think they would be zombies. Brought back by a curse which is what I think the original zombies were brought back by aren't they?

There's old stories that come from both angles, the curse & the plague
