but I don't think andrea has necessarily done anything stupid given the information she has. She has never known as much as we did about the men she has gotten involved with.

Naivety is just another way of being stupid. With all the people she's come into contact with, she should know better than to accept a situation like this without questioning it to some degree

It's a post-apocalyptic community run by a guy who has MERLE as his right hand man (No pun intended)

If that doesn't give you pause, then you are either a moron, or you have some kind of mental problem. This is why as much as she hasn't really been used well, or written well, I don't mind Michonne all that much, because at least she has some common sense

That place is not the kind of place you accept at face value

I think at that point you would accept anything that looked like normality. And I can't stand Michonne. She only has one expression on her face and it's not a pleasant one. She's been on for half a season and we know absolutely nothing about her other than she can swing a sword and glare.

which is pretty interesting considering all the comic book junkies were peeing themselves with joy that she was coming onto the series..

Michonne is rather annoying. Actually, down right irritating. But, she's got a brain. I'm in total agreement with Mojo, only I'll add sanctimonious hot-head.

Normalcy would be the last thing I'd accept. What possible reason could anyone in their right mind have to behave like things are normal? People who are going out of their way to behave "Normal" in the world's most abnormal circumstance, are people hiding something or hiding from something, or both in this case, & neither is a productive survival plan, especially when the people hiding from reality are only able to do so because they turn a blind eye to the actions of the people who hide what they are all about.

Make no bones about it, Woodbury is a dictatorship, & the sheep in it are complicit in the actions of the people who run it. They've made a conscious choice to be ignorant of how & why they are able to live the way they do, so they can have their normalcy in an abnormal world

It's only year one, & humanity is already down to people who only survived because of very specific circumstances, all of which are suspect when you meet someone, & in the right climate, would actually be best to be brought into question when you meet someone

The only thing Merle has ever said in his entire existence that I actually agree with is that I'd be most afraid of someone who appeared nonthreatening or normal. I'm paraphrasing of course. I think he said something more like he'd shit himself if someone came up to him with their hands in their pockets, instead of pointing a gun at him.

That's the reality. There's no reason to expect someone to be treating people like everything is normal. If I met someone who didn't try to kill me long enough to have a conversation. The first topic on my mind is going to be how in the hell have you been able to stay alive this long?

Because goal #1 is to ascertain if a person is a scavenger who just wants to stay alive & defend themselves, or a marauder who's interested in whatever they can get, by whatever means. One guy I might hang with, & the other I most certainly will not

I just thought of the perfect analogy to illustrate my point

You know how it's standard practice for every computer that's being used on the internet to have a firewall, & some kind of anti virus software? It's just a given that you need that if your computer is going to dive into the abyss of digital humanity

In the post-apocalypse, with no civilization, & no authority, the real world is the same exact way, every single person you meet is like going to a new website for the first time. It could be a terrific thing. You could get something, learn something, or have access to a resource that betters your existence

OR you could get used, robbed or wrecked completely, if you don't have basic guards in place to protect yourself, & things that look too good to be true usually are. One cannot afford to be a sucker in survival

Andrea is a sucker, & frankly, she should know better than to be one at this point, & I agree with Ali too. She's downright sanctimonious about her suckerdom

Okay, I get the point about being desperate to latch on to anything that appears normal. But, once she saw geek fights, or the heads, or found out that Governor actually started the war by kidnapping her friends... somewhere along that point a sane person would split.

Not really. I just don't think the show transfers well into black & white. The show's style is cinematic in nature, & in cinema, there's more to a black & white production than just bleeding the color out of it. Shooting in color is a wholly different style, requiring different techniques

Watch a Hitchcock movie to see what I mean. It's all about light & shadow & texture. These are subtle nuances that aren't focused on as much in a color production. So bleeding the color out of it just makes it like trying to watch a color movie on an old black & white tv, which is a lesser thing imo

I don't know if I hope or don't hope that was Andrea...

OMFG that bitch needs to die.
From the look of next week's trailer it seems like it wasn't her, but I can't be sure

I'm caught up now. It was a good episode. The Daryl stuff was right on the money, but I'm really hoping Glenn has bottomed out on his idiocy. It needs to be done now

Say what you will about Rick's cuckoo-birdiness, though he can't effectively lead, he's still good to have around in a scrape. As divergent as this group was, they still worked well during the attack, except for maybe Glenn who could have been a bigger help

Seems like every episode gets a new "Hell yeah Daryl" moment now  Currently, he's the only character who doesn't even need to be in the shot for you to know he's there. Just an arrow out of nowhere & you know it's him coming to the rescue

They really need to work on Michonne, because she could easily have that same effect with her sword
and ultimately... I don't really hate Andrea. I'm just tired as hell of her & it looks to be more of the same next week

All I got left to say about Andrea is that she needs to become more brilliant than anybody on this whole show has ever been, and damn fast! because there is only one pertinent characteristic of a person on the fence... they make good targets

I feel like Tyrese won't be fully aligned with Woodbury once the shit hits the fan, and when the dust clears, I'm betting Woodbury as it's been is done & the people left will all become one group. I can see Andrea being a part of making that happen, but she needs to get a really smart plan immediately

Sadly however, I can't really say if she stopped the assassination because she knew he was aware, figured it was piss poor strategy, or because for some reason she can't bring herself to be done with him. If it's the latter, she's done & good riddance

She's either finally thinking smartly (For a change) because killing him would create hysteria in Woodbury that would just be more dangerous, or she's still behaving idiotically and it's going to get her killed, and if that's the case, people have a good reason for wanting to see her dead

sometimes I wonder if other people are watching the same show I am. Andrea didn't kill the governor because she's not a psycopath and can't kill a man in cold blood that she just made love with.

I loved that michonne finally apeared human amd that tyrese's group showed up at woodbury. That will prove interesting.

That's what I meant by she can't bring herself to be done with him. It may be as simple as not wanting to believe she could be so misled, so she keeps doubling down on this nutjob, but It's all abundantly clear now, & Michonne laid it out as clear as day what the deal is. Andrea has even stated that she knows she's being lied to. She knows the guy is a liar, a ruthless dictator, & pretty well crazy. She doesn't know him as well as Merle, but she's got a good enough idea that something needs to be done with him

A person need not be a psychopath to kill. They only need to have no other choice. Andrea has no other choice. To not do something about him will result in a lot of death

She needs to do something or she'll basically be the most irredeemable character on the show. You think people hate her now. Let's see how they feel if she stands idly by & the result is dead cast members. Frankly, I don't see that happening. They'll end up having her do something. My only question is will it be enough & in time

Like it or not, this season, she is the female lead on the show, so the outcome of the season will fall squarely on her shoulders, but nothing she does will change the fact that her naivety & dumb ego is what got her in this position, just like Rick slipping is having bad consequences too

Season 3 ends March 31st. There's only 5 episodes left, & the next one, by no small coincidence... is called "Clear"

The short seasons are rather annoying. Just a general gripe about the nature of television anymore. (At least the stuff I watch.) I'm still waiting on Grimm to come back after a 5 month hiatus. Really, do they expect to maintain a following with a record like that?

rant off

Spot on analysis, as always, Mojo.

I'm off to watch the new episode right now.

Oops, I thought you had. Sorry about any spoilers

What amazes me about the show this season, & even since the beginning, is how little it really has to do with zombies. I mean they got zombies of course, but really... all the zombies do is try to eat you. They aren't nearly capable enough to bring about all the awful circumstances that this show has featured. It took the living people to do all that

Now... This is what I've been thinking about. I'm not saying this would have happened, but it potentially could have happened, had Andrea not been a moron about the whole Woodbury thing from the get go.

Imagine... that when Andrea & Michonne get sucked up by Merle & taken to Woodbury, Andrea isn't a moron, and realizes that even though on the surface the deal looks pretty sweet, there are overt overtones of fascism, mob mentality, & marauderism, with MERLE at its core

She decides to leave with Michonne, rather than be an idiot. The Governor sends Merle & his raiding party to rob, probably rape & kill them. They would almost certainly underestimate these two women. With Andrea there to help Michonne, I'd wager they take out Merle's band of twerps. Merle dead

Merle never kidnaps Maggie & Glenn. Oscar doesn't die having to rescue them. Daryl might never even find out about Merle, & Woodbuy likely never finds out about the Prison survivors. Additionally, Axel doesn't get shot by the Governor.

Andrea & Michonne look for safe haven in the area where they will not be found by the Governor. It's even possible they come across Tyrese's people, given how openly they fumble about the area

Just imagine that Michonne & Tyrese's people find the prison survivors WITH Andrea. Everyone is accepted due to their association with Andrea

None of this would have saved T-Dog or Lori, but even if, by some chance, the Governor stumbles upon them at the prison, which he thinks is overrun with walkers, He won't be welcome, based on how Michonne & Andrea left company. He will also not be able to easily take the prison with a population of 16 occupying it, especially after losing Merle & his twerps, and as far as he knows there could be more

I'm guessing the prison must have running water too, & with all those people to help clean it up & fortify it, it would be a pretty decent living situation in time

Everyone's life could have been so much better had Andrea not been a moron, even if it was only to help Michonne when she was attacked, and change the course of events that got people kidnapped, & killed
