So the whole phone thing was in Rick's head? Or are we adding the paranormal to our sci-fi?

I'm taking it as stress induced hallucination. This show ain't Lost. Adding paranormal nonsense would be a huge mistake

Losing hope for Merle. The only chance that he comes around is if the Governor threatens his brother and his brother knocks some sense into him. Very slim chance of that though.
I never really had any hope for the guy. It's more likely that Michonne being allied with Rick's group will mean that the Gov. or Merle or both will be a threat to all of Rick's group... except Daryl

I figure Daryl will have to choose, & when it's clear he cares about Carol & even the others more than his own brother, it will be bad, & Daryl will probably have to kill him. If it weren't for the fact that most of Woodbury are clueless sheep, I'd suggest it might very well be a fight to the death in the Geek Gladiator circle, but that seems a bit much, given that it's not a to the death kind of event, unless they set it up as a normal fight & it ends up going down that way inadvertently

I don't know why I see it this way, but I feel like we're not done with the Geek Gladiator circle, & since Merle is the champ, it could go that direction.... or not
In the books the theirs some pretty significant events involving the gladiator circle. It also goes down pretty much as you described, only w/o the Merle - Daryl dynamic since they're not in the books.

I agree with you about the paranormal. If they start to add that, or some serious conspiracy, I think the show will be lost (pardon the pun).

You mean things escalate to the point of the gladiator circle being a fight to the death scenario?

That the two camps will come into conflict.

Oh... yeah that's a given. Not sure if it'll be by the end of this season, or if they'll drag it out over the next two. Keeping things moving would be my preference

I think Daryl has grown so much and has so much confidence that he won't be abused by merle anymore. And merle isn't going to understand that.

When he was out looking for Sophie he kind of had a moment with "Merle" and asserted himself. I think then he tore himself out of Merel's shadow.

I'm hoping Merle pulls a Darth Vader and throws the Governor down the pit.

Yeah, but in Merle's case it might not be for any noble reason. It'll be just because he wants to kill the guy

So far, new T-Dog is no more interesting than old T-Dog was :p

Creepy Milton is looking for the Little Girl Teddy Bear Factor, that I've been talking about for quite some time now. The irony is that he's either a shitty scientist, or has absolutely no practical knowledge of walker behavior. I'm leaning toward the latter, & adding it to the list of things that makes me think Woodbury is primarily populated by people largely sheltered from the horrors of the new paradigm, unlike Rick's group

It is a mindless ravenous cannibal, so long as there is anything present upon which to feed. He's not conducting a controlled experiment so long as he & Andrea are in the room. If he ever figures that out, he might be on to something, & the more I watch him fumble about in piss poor form, the more I realize I'd probably be him. Once I saw one do something like go pick up its teddy bear, I'd want to know wtf that is all about

Damn my nerdiness :teehee:

in my opionion the only thing that could make this whole thing worse is if they had some humanity left. It would make me want to put them out of their misery even faster.

I thought this was a bit of a filler episode. Getting everyone in the right position for the big showdown. Glen just gets better and better.

saw a truly horrifying scene from next week

Glenn has always been my favorite, since the first line where he called Rick a dumbass on the radio. It has been a subtle but steady growth, that has overtaken everyone on the show, including Daryl, who's a pretty close second. Daryl's development although wonderful to watch, was pretty predictable. Whereas, Glenn has become a man in a way that was impossible to imagine at the beginning.

I could see everyone else leaving & him taking lead on the show some day, & I'd be ok with that. Glenn's stuff this week was some of the most riveting drama this season, but yeah... the episode on the whole was a buildup to the midseason finale. I'm ok with that though. It was still good

Oh yeah... It would be so much worse. It would be truly horrific that this has happened to almost all of the people on the planet, ripped back from death, to be a mindless ravenous beast, forever trapped in horrid darkness & all consuming hunger, all the while muddled echos of the person buried in a decayed heap

Something tells me Merle is incapable of happiness. There is only malicious venom in his soul. I suspect the only reason he wants to reunite with his brother is because he doesn't have much in the way of support. He's having to play second fiddle to this governor asshole, & he walks a fine line with it

Having Daryl back would give him someone to have on HIS team, leverage. He might even have plans to overthrow the community once he has Daryl around. What he doesn't expect, is what the governor suspects. Daryl is not only his own man now, but he is the core of an incredibly resilient group. It's not the Daryl that he lost nearly a year ago, & in all reality, Merle has probably gone his own direction in that time too

I guarantee you that the reunion will go poorly, & I don't even think they'd like each other anymore... if they ever did. Merle will think Daryl has gone soft, because he's protecting these people, when in fact Daryl has had to live harder than Merle this whole time. Merle's been sitting pretty playing one handed geek tag. Daryl's been in the thick of what these morons call the red zone

Right now, as bad as it's been, I think Daryl is really beginning to like & respect himself for maybe the first time ever. I don't think Merle is ever suppressing that again, like he probably did their whole lives. Hell, Merle is so close minded, he might even think Daryl is traitorous for staying with the people who left him for dead

oh he will think he's traitorous. And daryl has said when he was a child it was better when Merle was in jail. And that he could only play outside with the other kids when Merle wasn't there

But doesn't it seem a bit simplistic for them to spend all this time building up the reunion, for it to end with Daryl killing him? I'm beginning to think it's too obvious & that there may yet be a twist that we aren't ready for

Maybe I'm over thinking it
