Gotta be a who. No reason to do a POV shot like that unless it was a person. Probably someone who ties into Andrea's story arc |

so what do you think about Rick saying 50% of the population had died? I was thinking it was more like 90% |

Maybe not 90%, but I'm betting waaaay more than 50% by now. You have to consider that though it's been 3 seasons on the show, it's still less than 300 days since the global outbreak of Wildfire. The CDC has fallen, & all signs point to a collapse of the military structure, which means that the government has likely fallen But you need to think about the specific outbreak here. Sure, somehow everyone is infected, but the only way to succumb is to be killed in an attack, or attacked such that a fever kills you. This means every major population center is gone by now, & at least 70-80% of their populations died in them, but many fled, & many others were never there to begin with Basically, the risk of death is much lower in less urban settings. Hershel's family lived on a farm, out in the open, for maybe 3 months after the breakout, & truth be told, it was Rick's group that was the catalyst for bringing the place down. It was Carl shooting down Shane that brought the herd Point being, a much less moronic group could've hunkered down there much longer, & there's probably still a great deal of that continuing about the rural U.S. It won't last though But the current state of things. I'd wager on 75-80%, & rising, likely much slower than it did initially, but still rising, nonetheless |

but every house they come across is empty. And the city was virtually abandoned. |

I think 80% is the low estimate. 90% may even be a low estimate. When you think about it, even with a 90% loss of people in the US, we'd still equal or better the population of Canada. If you can envision 31 - 35 million people left in the United States, knowing what Canada looks like (granted Canadians mostly live within 100 miles of the border), that's about 3 people per sq mile. Twice the density of Alaska and about half the density of British Columbia. From what we're seeing on the show, I think we're closer to Alaskan density, at least in Georgia. Of course, regionally, the affliction may be different. Oregon may very well be a functioning state still, while the entire state of NY may be gone. |

I agree. It could vary. More rural states might have more survivors. |

Wasn't it only one house we saw? It was also scavenged of any food but dog food. Who's house has no food but dog food, unless the survivors took a bunch when they left, or it's already been looted by other survivors. I figure based on their remarks, they have been hitting other houses too, but I bet it wasn't a lot of them & most likely they hunkered down in one spot through the tough times of winter. Plus there's herds abound in the area, which means that entire area is unsafe to live in, herds which migrated from urban areas, & when that began happening, survivors would have had to evacuate, except our little band of idiots, of course. They have barely gone 50 miles from where they started, in 6 months. The highway stretch, Hershel's farm, & the prison are all within a 50 mile radius of one another Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying there's lots of survivors, all over the place & as the days go on, there's less & less. Certainly they haven't come across any all winter long, that we know of But basically, the difference between 10% & 20% is the difference, in the U.S, of roughly 31 million people vs 62 million. Either way... that's still a whole shitload of survivors spread from sea to shining sea, for the time being, & a continent of nooks & crannies to hide out in. Seeing as it's still inside year one, I'm erring on the over 50 million mark at this time, but every day that goes by, that number is dropping. I'd imagine that the casualty rate slowed during winter, but spring & summer is upon them now, & the geeks are a roaming Hell, with the possibility of there being upwards of 50 million people left in the continental U.S, there's still a real potential of a coordinated effort going on somewhere, & I don't mean this Governor's commune. I mean the real deal, like a partially functioning government, actively waging the war still BTW anyone else noticing how much more commonplace human on human murder is becoming? Especially with Rick. He's killed 5 named characters in the last 8 episodes |

Obviously But would you want to know that, or spread that around your group? Times have been pitiful enough as it is. Who wants to keep struggling when you believe that it's all but over? No, you'd want to hope there's still people out there |

I think I may be an episode behind you folks. I'm going to check and see if AMC has it up on their site. Nope! I am going to have to break federal copyright law and torrent this. |
