The Governor. He's trying to rebuild, & "Take back" the world from the undead,

The what! The who!?

I think I missed some episodes. Or they started a new season.

Shyte!
Season 3 character. It hasn't started yet, but he's in the trailer Wissa posted above. It appears for the first time we'll have a season long split in the story, because Andrea has gotten separated from the group. Rick & co. have taken over a prison, & Andrea meets Michonne, a sword wielding zombie killer. The two appear to get taken into a rather totalitarian community, & I suspect that they there will be a merging of the plot with the folks at the prison

Live long and prosper.....!!

No true, but should give some protection while wiping out the zombies !!

And when these zombie outbreaks occur, why don't they just nuke the cemeteries to reduce the chances of it beginning elsewhere ??

oooooh a trailer for the fall season revealed at comicon

http://www.amctv.com/the-walking-dead/videos/season-3-comic-con-trailer-the-walking-dead

Spoiler: click to toggle
Yeah, it's different than I expected. Actually, looks better. I think season 2 disappointed me a bit, such that my expectations were lower. The trailer makes it looks good. Personalities are changing. Hershel looks seriously haggard, & Rick looks way more driven than ever before

I agree. The way to infection makes no sense. If you already have the virus what does it matter if you get bit or scratched?

Because bit kills you (I have no evidence of scratched) See, Zombification is not necessarily a virus. "It could be microbial, viral, parasitic, fungal" They don't know. The infection which invades the brain "Like meningitis" is likely viral, & very likely spread by saliva making a bite the carrier into the blood stream. The bite, causes "The Fever". The fever kills you. However, the post-mortem event (Zombification) is the condition which everyone is a harborer of, which is why anyone who dies suffers the post-mortem condition.

The two could be unrelated, or the bite spread fever could be a secondary characteristic of the phenomena, expediting the process for the sake of the primary factor, as in making people dead so the post-mortem event can occur. Zombie #1 didn't become a zombie from being bit by a zombie. We don't even know if they died of the fever, & the only way for everyone to be a harborer of the post-mortem condition, is some kind of world wide phenomena, that has either always been a part of us, or affected us all at the same time, or maybe a bit of both

Any way you slice it, being bit by a zombie kills you. Dead is bad, whether you come back from it or not, & in this new paradigm... everyone does. As a sci-fi fan, I do hope some of the science will surface in this story

I think the whole point of this new twist is to hang a shadow over this totalitarian refugee center being run by The Governor. He's trying to rebuild, & "Take back" the world from the undead, but I'm betting he doesn't know what Jenner told Rick. He doesn't know that all the people living in his village are going to become undead when they die, even without being bit. Therefore, the hope of a new world without undead is dead in the water

It actually hangs a shadow over all Humanity, because there will be no taking back the world, until the post-mortem condition can be stopped from happening, & eradicating all the walking dead on Earth won't stop it
you gotta think that at some point someone will die a natural death and they will see the transformation themselves. Even our hapless group was figuring it out.

Yeah, eventually. I just have a sneaking suspicion that it hasn't happened at this commune yet. Things are still sort of new. It's maybe only been a few months, possibly half a year since the outbreak. I don't even think Andrea knows yet. The plot device of us finding out right now seems to be for a purpose, & this commune not knowing might be it. I might be wrong though, & they could not even bother with it, in that story

Our hapless group was finding it out, only now, because they're hapless & pretty well self destructive at that point. It's because Rick was told, that they were able to skip over the process of having to figure it out themselves, after having dismissed it for a while as having been contamination by other means.

The only evidence they had was the odd circumstances surrounding the death of their captive, which wasn't really conclusive enough to clue them in completely & then the murder of Shane, which is a very isolated incident. Mostly, people don't go around murdering each other, especially if they're friends or in the same survival group

Honestly, how could you tell a zombie had or hadn't been infected by another zombie, except to look for bite marks? If you didn't see any, your 1st conclusion wouldn't be that they had spontaneously reanimated, but that they'd gotten infected some other way, like fluid in their eyes, nose, mouth, etc...

Unless you had been witness to the murder or accidental death of someone you conclusively knew to not be infected, that happened in such a way as to not damage their brain, & then witnessed resurrection. Only then would you put 2 & 2 together, & begin to suspect species wide contamination. Those are some fairly specific turns of events which might not have been encountered this early on by everyone. Otherwise, you'd have to see this condition occur for a good long while before it started to become apparent

Just saying. It's not out of the realm of possibility, even if they chose to not go that direction on the show

I'm thinking accidental death is a lot more likely now than before the zombies. With them trying to rewire stuff and steal stuff and use tools

Most of humanity is dead, & the ones that survived have got some know how & survival skills that made it possible or are with people that do. I'm pretty sure getting through the apocalypse alive is a bit more difficult than handling household or automotive chores. btw, looting should be cake now. There's nobody left to stop you :teehee:

I'd say it's at least still about proportionally even as far as accidents go, where in the pre-apocalypse most accidental death was from traffic accidents or accidents in the home from the stupid masses. Not a whole lot of traffic afterward though & the vast masses of stupid are probably already dead. The most likely cause of accidental death in the post-apocalypse is the fact that pretty much everyone is packing weaponry, most of whom are familiar with using them. I don't recall seeing even one accidental fatal shooting on the show

I'd say it's still pretty believable that, in general, people would not yet know about the universality of resurrection. It would also give something of a specialness to our band of regulars. They know more than anyone how bleak the future is. There's a certain power in that, that I'm betting the show will use for at least a short time

Look how isolated & uninformed the people on Hershel's farm were, & look how well that turned out for them. Hershel looks like shit in season 3

If I remember correctly ghouls eat dead flesh, so zombies would be a walking smorgasbord !!

Then again not many ghouls around, unless you can mobilise Uncle Fester and his ghoul-friends !! :p

review of the season opener

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/sounds-zombie-trouble-walking-dead-lurches-back-life-130623461.html

Quote:

There have been "Walking Dead" episodes that shortchanged the viewer with too few zombies on display. And there have been episodes with escalating dread but no dramatic release. This is not one of them. Count this episode — packed with a zombie skirmish, a terrible twist and a bonus complication — among the series' most unforgettable.

I expected the opener to be good. They caught a lot of criticism for getting dull last season. I just hope it holds up through the whole season. imdb only has them listed to have 10 episodes this season, for a grand total of 29 by the end of season 3. It's too soon for them to be getting dull like they did in the build up to finding Sophia in the Barn.

C'MON It's the Zombie apocalypse, for Christ sake

only 10 episodes? :(
Yeah :idon'tknow:

Season 2 only had 13, & season one only had 6. Thank god for the webisodes

If they plan to keep the seasons so small, then they ought to be able to dump more money in per episode, & make them more epic, I would hope

The pisser is that they'll probably run for 5 weeks & take a huge stinking break, though I don't know that for a fact, but isn't that what they did last season?

They'll probably run until the end of November & then break until February :waiting:
