Lol too dangerous to the user. That's why I'm not a big fan of chain saws either Now if you wanted to drive a truck with a snow plow attached, and giant spinning circular saw blades along the top edge, you might be on to something ![]() Add that to the list of combat fittings on my RV |

Yeah, use SEMTEX for taking out zombies !! Katana's etc, are fine for up-close-and-personal fighting, but I like the idea of taking 'em out before they get so close, and explosive is the perfect choice. Booby trap an area away from your base, then when the pesky zombies reach that point - BOOM !! |

You never know when or where they're going to show up, if we're to believe tv & movies. That's why grenades & rocket launchers/bazookas might be better. They're good in a surprise, & can be used at a distance, & are better for improvising but are bulky to carry for an individual. If I'm on my own, & come across a herd off in the distance, I'd prefer one good trusty sniper rifle, & an elevated position. Thin the herd & then if I can't get by them, once they are in my perimeter, I'll at least have an easier time with my blades, hacking through what's left You can put something of a silencer on your rifle, not so much on explosives & bazookas. Loud noise will just bring more. Finally, some good ol zombie killin talk in this thread. About time

I don't know if you've ever done any kind of fighting or grappling, but the body gets tired pretty quickly. I assume that it's similar to sword play. I've been gassed in under two minutes of fighting. I think the sword is great, but would rather rely on a weapon that's gong to work for me. |

Yeah, that's a fair point. Sword play is tiring, especially with the added weight of armor, though probably less so when you aren't fighting with it, but rather just decapitating meatbags, & using a light weight blade It would seem a fair balance would be best. A rifle, a pistol, a sword, & perhaps a bit of demo in a pinch, with a couple other blades just for survival purposes |

They all have their down-sides. Bladed weapons require energy to wield them effectively, and lose that effectiveness as your energy is depleted. Guns, rifles etc have a limited number of shots, and need to be reloaded which needs time. Explosives are only effective in specific areas and ranges, but not guaranteed to kill or destroy a target !! Meanwhile the zombies keep on coming.......!! |

That's why as heavy as it might be to wear, a protective covering like chainmail is a dang good fail safe. Human teeth & claws aren't nearly as dangerous as a shark & suits are used for that Very sexy ones in fact ![]() Though It'll look dorkier with the head piece Needs gloves & a belt too |

You can get the modern day equivalent with Kevlar. Will cover your entire body like mail, for maybe $1000-$1500. Will protect against geek teeth and nails. Why wait? Who knows who has bath salts in your neighborhood?

I've come to the conclusion that an axe is going to be your best weapon unless facing a herd. we are all going to need one anyway, and we are going to get pretty good with it I'm sure. Not to mention having the right muscles for swinging it. And it will give us just enough reach to kill them without them getting to you. though as usual, I am confused at how worried everyone in walking dead is about being scratched. You see people in all sorts of near misses where surely they get scratched and nothing happens. And they kill zombies all the time and have zombie juice spray up in thier faces and over open wounds. Shouldn't that be at least as dangerous as being scratched? |

You're letting logic get in the way of the story wissa, stuff like that only happens when the writers/producers/director want it to happen, usually to expand a dying storyline !! Oh, and best way to deal with a mob - flamethrower. That'll keep the suckers at bay !!

Yeah, they haven't been entirely clear on the contagiousness of their plague. In my line of work it's required to be constantly conscious of contagion, infection, & cross contamination. So I pay attention to these things by default more than most people. These idiots literally bathe themselves in zombie goo, wipe it all over their clothes, climb onto geeks, smashing them into a pulp, mouths wide open & without eye protection, and fight them bare handed I don't know about you, but lots of times when I've laid a bare fist into a human skull, I've come away with some split skin on my knuckles From all this evidence, & the fact that we now know all the living are already infected anyhow, I'm not even sure how someone might get this "Fever" at all, besides being bit. This could suggest it is solely saliva based, meaning we have to assume geeks salivate, despite the fact that they're, in some manner, a corpse with brain activity. I don't recall seeing anyone infected with the fever by any means other than a bite. We've seen lots of people come back from death, but we now know everyone comes back from death in this new paradigm. Dale & Amy for example died from wounds sustained by zombie attack, but did not obtain the fever. Amy was bit & therefore would have gotten it had she lived longer, but Dale wasn't, to my recollection. He was disemboweled by hand, which now makes me suspect that had he been repairable, he might not have gotten the fever, which would be an interesting twist, imo It's taken some time to get to it, but ultimately the show has created a world where death, as we knew it, is a thing of the past, but this particular infection is spread solely through saliva/blood cross contamination, which is interesting, because it means they could very well be mutually exclusive, as in, death makes you a zombie, & the fever you get from being bit by a zombie kills you, but the fever is not necessarily the root cause or origin of zombification or the epidemic thereof. It could very well just be a coincidental relationship, or a secondary characteristic of the zombification phenomena. & this aspect of it is why zombies are science fiction. The characteristics of the plague can be dome in many different ways |

I agree. The way to infection makes no sense. If you already have the virus what does it matter if you get bit or scratched? |

Yeah, it's different than I expected. Actually, looks better. I think season 2 disappointed me a bit, such that my expectations were lower. The trailer makes it looks good. Personalities are changing. Hershel looks seriously haggard, & Rick looks way more driven than ever before
Because bit kills you (I have no evidence of scratched) See, Zombification is not necessarily a virus. "It could be microbial, viral, parasitic, fungal" They don't know. The infection which invades the brain "Like meningitis" is likely viral, & very likely spread by saliva making a bite the carrier into the blood stream. The bite, causes "The Fever". The fever kills you. However, the post-mortem event (Zombification) is the condition which everyone is a harborer of, which is why anyone who dies suffers the post-mortem condition. The two could be unrelated, or the bite spread fever could be a secondary characteristic of the phenomena, expediting the process for the sake of the primary factor, as in making people dead so the post-mortem event can occur. Zombie #1 didn't become a zombie from being bit by a zombie. We don't even know if they died of the fever, & the only way for everyone to be a harborer of the post-mortem condition, is some kind of world wide phenomena, that has either always been a part of us, or affected us all at the same time, or maybe a bit of both Any way you slice it, being bit by a zombie kills you. Dead is bad, whether you come back from it or not, & in this new paradigm... everyone does. As a sci-fi fan, I do hope some of the science will surface in this story I think the whole point of this new twist is to hang a shadow over this totalitarian refugee center being run by The Governor. He's trying to rebuild, & "Take back" the world from the undead, but I'm betting he doesn't know what Jenner told Rick. He doesn't know that all the people living in his village are going to become undead when they die, even without being bit. Therefore, the hope of a new world without undead is dead in the water It actually hangs a shadow over all Humanity, because there will be no taking back the world, until the post-mortem condition can be stopped from happening, & eradicating all the walking dead on Earth won't stop it |
