so apparantly this is getting more and more common. I can see why it would be interesting from a photographer point of view, but I don't get why brides would be willing to trash something they just spent potentially thousands of dollars on. Seems just offensively wasteful to me.

Me too. Mrs Crane had hers preserved for storage and if its still OK, her majesty would like to try it first to see if she likes it for her wedding, before looking for a new one
The unambiguous and defined essence of a truest friend, is a single soul, shared in two bodies. A person who completes you so, that it pains you when they hurt, and sustains you when they are with you, no matter how far.

It's Christmas!

I agree with you. Mine was not store bought, it was made by hand (from my own design I drew out)for my own wedding because I wanted a Renaissance wedding. I still have the dress today. Of course, I don't want to have them dirty up, no thanks! Too beautiful to damage it.

i was thinking; why don't they save
it for their daughters?

You are talking about trashing a dress worth thousands of dollars after buying the dress for one time use? Sounds like the money was already trashed.

First and third pics make me think the photographer wanted some bride action. I don't see the appeal of the pics otherwise.

Randomer than you since 1992

Sure, the photos look nice, but I can't imagine why anyone would want to do that to their own wedding dress. Some people are crazy...

Excessive wastefulness? I'd be surprised if this culture knew the first thing about it

:yeahthat:

Chances are those women didn't pay for their own dresses either.

I've got mine all stored up but I'm starting to wonder why. Very few people wear vintage dresses. The styles in wedding dresses change so fast from one decade to the next.

True that. I used to want to wear the one my mother wore. Times changed and when I bought my own a couple of years back...styles vastly changed. Nothing wrong with her dress, it's from a different era.

If you have a bit of money, you could have it altered into something else that might be fashionable to you. That would be an interesting use of an otherwise useless piece of expensive memorabilia

something else I might wear? seems unlikely. And my dress is mostly tulle. The fabric that is there is heavily beaded which is no long in style. And removing that would likely destroy the fabric.

Live long and prosper.....!!

Don't know if you remember LOTR, the white dress worn by Eowyn. Well, Emily's wedding dress was very similar to that one, and yes she still has it and because it isn't the 'traditional' style wedding dress, she can (and has) worn it for special occasions, usually our anniversary's. She says the very idea of trashing it is abhorant to her !!

Absolutely! What would it say about the marriage, if the bride was willing to trash the most important dress she'll probably ever own? It reminds me of a friend's wedding video, when she was explaining why the marriage didn't work out, and the video showed the groom - who obviously had something on his fingers - wipe his hand on her dress, then wondered why she was upset!
