I can't be bothered to haggle.... I simply don't have the time or patience. When I shop I want to find my product, see it's price and if I don't think it's reasonable, I will go somewhere else where it is. Though one time I was thrown into a haggle session when I wasn't even trying. When I first moved to the city for college I was looking for a cheap $30 film camera (digital weren't all that common back then).... I walked into a camera store and asked if they have any cheap cameras for around $30 or so.... I was willing to pay up to $50. He brought out the cheapest camera he had, which was $160..... showed me the auto film loader features, the LCD display, etc. etc..... it was pretty fancy for what it was.... but I told him I didn't have that much money to spend and thanked him for his time. As I was walking out the door he called me back and said he could drop the price to $120. I said sorry, I already told you how much money I have to spend and that's still too much. He then dropped it to $110. I still said no. This went on for a bit until he dropped the price to $80 and tossed in 4 extra custom batteries the camera required which were about $15 each. I thought about it and the poor guy was really trying.... so I said screw it and bought the damn thing. It was actually pretty impressive, all automatic, auto loader, auto wind up, auto everything, the pictures came out decently..... I felt like I robbed the poor guy. |

i usually only haggle at flea markets. i ask: "can you do better on the price?" or if it's $10 i offer $8 & they often take it. and it's more than what it's worth anyway. |

Yeah you're not really gonna have any haggle power at any sort of chain. The only places you can do that are flea markets, some clearance outlets, and garage sales. Unless you're going direct to a manufacturer how can haggle or any of the above, your pretty much stuck with sticker price.....unless they are floor models and/or have flaws. but to answer teh question, Yes, I haggle....as much as I possibly can where it is appropriate |
