The meteor shower is supposed to peak the next couple nights. I'm sort of watching it right now. Seems to be situated around Cassiopia

Northeast

I drove to a mountaintop near here for the past two hours, just got back. They recomend the Northeast, around Persius and Casiopia, but I found most of them to be crossing the big dipper.

what hemisphere or latitudes?
There is so much chunk in our air in the NY area that even on clear nights, we dont often get to witness much astronomical phenomenon

Northern hemisphere, not sure on the latititudes. Could be visible from a remote area in York as the state is similar latitude to southern BC. However here with our forest fires and small city of 14,000, we've got enough smog and light polution to block out most of the smaller meteors. Still, worth the drive tonight , as it peaks around ten PM.

Last night was great. Went up to the mountain with a couple friends and my daughter. Spent a couple hours lying under the stars. Meteors were streaking all direstions and all kinds of satellites were buzing by. Glad the smoke from the forest fires wasn't around last night. It was so clear.

how does a meteor shower streak in different directions?
arent they all vectoring in towards us from the same direction?
Angles and trajectories may vary, but they would all more or less come in from one general direction wouldnt they?

It peaked the last two nights but should be still happening for another few days. Smoke from the forest fires getting thick here so its hard to tell tonight. I'll go look for a while. The media said 10pm was the best time, however I've heard that at 2 am it really went nuts the last two nights, which is now in West Virginia, hope you didn't go to sleep.

The night before, I almost forgotten about this until after 10pm during CSI:NY show, I went outside to look in the sky to see if I can catch the meteor passing by. I think I saw it very faded, a little too far for me to see up there in the sky. I thought I saw one or two passed by pretty fast. I stood there for a short time and went back inside. I did not want to stay outside too long for I was alone out there. I heard about a man escaped in Michigan wanted for stabbing several people already. He could be anywhere, so I wanted to keep lock up to be safe.

Was outside last night untl 2 am, nothing. Think the shower is over. And the smoke rolled in this morning, so won't see much for a while.

Oh, they got him. He was trying to board a plane to Tel Aviv and they caught him.
