I like some seafood... like shrimp and Lobster... but mostly it wigs me out!

especially if I see it before its cooked! Shrimp are all grey and look like giant insects...
:magstar:
but they taste so yummy when they are pink and cooked.....

LOVE snow crab legs... but goodness they are so much work to eat!
again I feel like Im eating a giant insect...

About the only kind of water-based kind of food that I can eat is catfish. And even then it has to be done right or I can't eat it at all.

It's Christmas!

Love shrimp, lobster, crabs, clams, fishes, a little tiny bits of sushi, frog legs and just tasted scallops last fall during my birthday dinner.

clams are difficult, especally when fried.
sometimes they're good, other times it's like
chewing on rubber. :wissa:

I like fish and crab. Shrimp is good. I've only had whole lobster once. Oysters and clams are give an take but they are better enjoyed in another form.

I like fried flounder and fried catfish. Other than that, I don't much care for seafood.

Live long and prosper.....!!

Fish (with chips), prawns, crab meat, lobster that's about it. Shellfish I've had before but don't like, or more 'exotic' stuff like shark or blowfish, I'll pass !!

I don't think there's a seafood that has turned me off yet. Of course living where I do and half of my family in the fishing industry, it's not surprising very little would bug me.

Although I find Clams look like penises with foreskin, and mussels look like yellowish vaginas.

Forgive me, but I always thought a clam was a big roundish thing, like an oversize scallop (usually see movie damsels in distress, with their foot caught in one and air running out, who the hero rescues in the nick of time) ??

A Prawn is a Shrimp, just different term for different territories.

We call them shrimp where I live, but back in Australia, my wife says they call them Prawns.... which kinda tosses out the window the aussie slang term "Shrimps on the Barbie"

Here's some normal pictures of each:

Mussel:

Scallop:

As it goes for their innards, while I don't know much about Scallops, Clams open their shells, have a muscle called a foot that they use for digging/moving (that big thing shown in my first post).... Muscles remain closed for the most part and use little strings of Byssus to cling to rocks and other surfaces in the ocean.

I find each not only has its own unique texture, but also flavor..... not to mention appearance.

Oh yeah, I also tried fresh water Eel.

Besides the bones, it's actually pretty good and the meat kinda taste like trout, with similar texture.

Of course one has to mind when and exactly where they get their eels in fresh water, because some can just taste like mud after cooking.

Also, if you go to a sea food store/department and they're selling eel, ensure the skin surface still has a healthy coat of slim. If the skin surface of the eel is dried our or has no slim texture to it.... it's old.

A prawn is a small shrimp, about 1/5 the size of a regular one. You can get them in prawn salads at a restaurant, or in bags at your supermarket. They taste kinda salty (but nice) and are kinda crunchy. Shrimps usually have their shells intact, prawns don't.

Hmm, now that you mention it, Prawn sounds a lot like Pron.... which is slang for Porn in some online communities that have certain words censored.

MMMMmmmm.... I like watching Prawn.
