Lynda Bellingham, British actress best known on tv and stage and very well liked, passes at just 66 from cancer. Very talented, she performed in many costume dramas, as well as comedy shows, and made a number of guest appearances on shows such as The Two Ronnies, she also won a number of acting awards. She was hoping to "see one more Christmas with my family, and after that I don't mind." (her words), but sadly she died yesterday in her husband's arms !!

Alvin Stardust, British singer who came to fame in the 60s, passes at 72. He's known for
dressing all in black leather, and had a distinctive way of holding the microphone when performing on stage, and had a pronounced quiff in his hair. He's also known for helping to kickstart the GlamRock era of music, which helped the careers of Gary Glitter among others. His 'Teddy Boy' rocker image was just that - an image - and he did a lot to help young and disadvantaged people. He died of cancer, and had his family around him at the end !!

A few days late with this, for which I apologise !!

Joe Cocker, Brit pop star, passes at 70. Like many others he too came to fame in the 60's, but his gravelly singing voice and pinwheeling arms set him apart from the rest. He was best known for just two songs - Up Where We Belong he did in a duet with Jennifer Warnes, which went straight to number one in the charts and stayed there for several weeks, the other song is a copy of a Beatles song - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends, which wasn't as big a hit though it was popular. He died of cancer !!

Much of his life is still classified top secret, officially by the Brit govt. What is known is that he was a member of the covert group OSS during the war, conducting spying and sabotage missions, and if that meant killing people well ok. He was a real James Bond in reality, long before Ian Fleming created the fictional spy. Best known for his screen appearances especially as Dracula (of which he made countless movies), and when he bit your neck you stayed bit !!
