so Madonna is getting a lot of backlash against her attempt to adopt another child from Malawa. Is it fair to be critical of her adopting a child? I don' think there is any reason to think she isn't a caring mother. And why is Angelina a saint for doing it when Madonna is criticized for it?

I don't think there is anything wrong with celebrities adopting from foreign countries..

I mean I wouldnt want Lindsey Lohan doing it.. but if some one is a mature adult.. I see no problem with it.

I heard the grandmother didn't want Madonna to take her grandson out of the county or something like that... but if the kid is "up for adoption" then that's just they way it goes.

If that's what she wants to do, then she should do it.
At least the kid would have whatever it needs in life.

People pick on Angelina too.

I don't know Madonna's heart and neither does anyone else so we can't say for sure either way.

Although, it does seem like baby collection as a fad.

And why does no one ever adopt the poor and need children here in the USA?

Because the poor in the US are better off than the middle class in most of the world. But if you know much about adopting in the US, let me know.

As for the grandmother, not wanting the baby to go, I have to wonder if the grandmother feels that the baby wouldn't have been up for adoption had Madonna's offer not come along. As I don't have reason to believe that is true, I think Madonna is doing a good thing.

that's how I feel too... even the poorest kid here often has a better life than those kids from 3rd world countries.. but I completely see both sides of the argument.

I would love to adopt one day.. apperantely its really hard to get a baby here in the us.. older kids are much easier.

How much easier? In 9 months, I could be back in the diaper changing business, but I would much rather just skip that stage if I were to adopt.

You guys are pregnant again?? or where you just pointing out that you could make your own instead of adopting?
Im not sure how much easier... a lady at my church adopted a baby from Russia.. cause it turned out she could get a baby.. and get one faster . Here she would have to wait a very long time to get a baby.
Its much faster to get like a 5yr old.

one of the ladies I work with has adopted like three kids
they even get free college from the government! they have to apply for grants and what not..and then the government pays the rest.. but if they dont get any grants.. the government pays for everything! Thats so amazing

Nip that fast. No pregnancy, just could have a new one in 9 months.

I'm adopted so all I can say is go for it.

On the flip side, kids of famous parents sometimes turn out to be wacky, whether they're "natural" or not.

Financially maybe, but there are a lot of children stuck in foster care and state care environs that deserve a loving home.

Here in BC if you want a baby, its a 7-10 year wait. If you want a drug baby or special needs child, you can get one tomorrow. :(

Why?

That just sounds so faddish. I think if you are going to adopt it should be someone your heart goes out to.

Not, "I want a little black boy" or African boy, or Laotian boy or Chinese boy et cetera et cetera.

The adoption process here and in CA should be reformed then. That's just awful. Six months, one year tops.

because there are a lot available and there is up to a 10 year wait for a newborn here. They can get a black child from the states really fast. And it is a whole lot easier to bring a child in from the states than another country. It has nothing to do with fads.

But we produce more than unwanted black babies.

I understand buying American but why black in particular. That's what seems faddish to me.

I"m assuming that is what is available the fastest. Trust me, the ones I know don't seem faddish at all. Don't know them well enough to start asking questions like 'why did you want a black kid' though.
