Each season is only 12 one hour episodes

Dexter sounds like a really good show and I'd probably enjoy watching it but this just bugs me. HBO is the same way. You're talking about a premium cable channel that usually you have to pay extra for and they give you episodes that would amount to half of a season on regular network TV. It's really annoying.

the length of the season isn't as important at the quality of the show. Maybe the regular networks should focus on quality rather than quantity a bit more.

:crying: that was just cruel.

Sorry, I thought it would be exciting :(

I think the length thing is not as big a deal as it seems. Especially when you consider that when they make an hour long episode it is almost a full hour. This last episode was just over 56 minutes, whereas a network show is only going to be like 42

they really get a lot more bang out of those few minutes every episode, & they don't have to gear the show for commercial breaks. Plus each season follows a definitive arc that is complete in 12 episodes, & doesn't leave you feeling jilted.

Hell, LOST has a fairly short season, since the contract renegotiation, & that bugs me a lot more than Dexter's short season

Dexter" season finale slashes records Module body

Mon Dec 14, 10:35 PM

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The fourth-season finale of Showtime's "Dexter" was seen by 2.6 million viewers on Sunday -- blowing away all modern records for the cable network.

The brutal "Dexter" closer was the most-watched original series episode ever on Showtime, and the most watched telecast since a Mike Tyson fight in 1999. "Dexter" was 54% higher than last year's finale.

so does that mean it was a good season? I was worried they may ruin it by domesticating him.

OH Good God Wissa! It may have been IS my favorite season since the first. It makes season 3 look like a stroll through the park. When I now think of Lila from season 2, I LOL

John Lithgow is the season long guest actor, & he is better in this show than I have ever seen him in his entire career. It is a performance worthy of award

& the reason the finale broke records, is because it's the most incredible thing I've seen on that show in a very long time

I've said enough. You must watch this brilliant season. It's starts slow, but that is just a ruse. It is not something to be missed. I'd advise finding it ASAP. don't wait for the dvds. Find it anywhere you can! I watched it on Megavideo

I think so. I knew John Lithgow was a serial killer but that is about it.

So the first 3 episodes started out pretty slow. Waay too much domestic stuff. I find Rita more and more annoying. Especially after Dex had his accident when she was insisting that dexter come home from work. My husband's like; she doesn't seem to be working, dexter gets up with the baby at night, she doesn't even drive the kids to school, what does she do exactly  Little too much romantic back story with Deb's partner and the reporter AND LeGuardia and Baptista. Like those two together though.

I'm very suspicious about the neighbour. And I liked the therapist telling Rita it was unreasonable to expect Dexter to change.

Dexter: I need some room for my things

therapist: I think what Dexter is saying is he needs more space in the marriage.

Dexter: well that too, but I literally need some room for my things.

finished last night. I think we should have dragged it out a bit though. I think the lack of suspence really affected how much we enjoyed it. But I found the season pretty predictable to be honest. Except for Christine being his daugher, and the final scene I pretty much predicted everything that happened. Only thing that I predicted that didn't happen was Quinn and Deb sleeping together. Found the secondary story of her looking at her dad's ci's and finding out about dexter kind of distracting from the main story line. I don't know, maybe what is going on with me kept me from really engaging in the show.

so I have a theory that it wasn't the trinity killer that murdered Rita. It was the next door neighbour doing a copy cat murder

Possible

But on rewatching, it just seemed like there was an all-knowing glint about Trinity during his execution scene
