The abolitionist movement in Britain dates back to the late 18th century so it was an old concept by 1867. Is it because they are so obviously horrible people, that they don't even require the judgment period, that someone like Eko got? The original pilot didn't seem so bad, but who knows? Maybe he was

Maybe he was No speculation on how Keamy escaped smokie, or were there just that many more commandos originally? I think you are probably right about Whitfield killing the slaves that Jacob was bringing. Still doesn't explain why he wouldn't have helped Richard out a little before blackie returned. But if Jacob was only going for the slaves, it could be that blackie can destroy anyone who isn't on Jacob's list. If someone is on the list, then they have to get a full judging.
